Congratulations on your decision! If you're looking for a fitness center but are self conscious (I certainly am!), I would recommend looking for a Planet Fitness center near you. They're the ones with the "I pick things up and put them down" commercial and they tout themselves as a judgment free zone. I joined and it really is! It costs $10 a month and you can cancel any time. They have a lot of equipment and even have a thirty minute workout section ala Curves. I liked it because it was a low cost introduction into working out without having to deal with a bunch of intimidating hot bodies.

Hey... you sound like an Exercise Physiologist! That or you have done quite a bit of research on how the body burns it's fuel (calories) and how to keep motivation up. Back in the day when I was fit and trained people, I would recommend they avoid the scale. But, to each his/her own! Some people need to see the numbers to feel like this procedure was worth it.

Whether it is Water weight, connective tissue, muscle or fat there has been a steady decrease except for a stall at week 3. I don't think anybody can lose pure fat only. I just reported what I saw after a weekend of 5 hours on a horse and 10 miles of hiking.
Thanks for the info Ouroborous (eating your own tail?). I've seen the formulae before. At the beginning I was on nothing but Isopure liquid Protein for 2 weeks, then full liquids, then mushies. I'm taking in about 600-700 calories now, 60-70 grams of protein and very low carbs (30 or so).
My main point is that I don't see anything wrong with a daily weigh-in if one isn't obsessed over it. It's a habit like brushing my teeth. If I eat badly I do see it almost immediately. That's how my body seems to work and the scale is part of my regimen that includes healthy eating and exercise. I've turned into a health nut.
I used stuff anything into my face - even if I didn't really like it all that much. Nuts huh? I now use the rule: "Q: Is it good for me and I like it? A: Eat away." "Q: Is it not the best choice, but I love it? A: Eat in tiny amounts." "Q: Is it bad for me and I'm ambivalent about it? A: Don't touch it."
Sorry, I got off topic, but I tend to ramble. About the scale thing -- Like someone said: To each his/her own. If you are getting upset by the numbers then ditch the scale. If you go away for a weekend and you are constantly dwelling on the fact that you haven't weighed in then ditch the scale. If a gain ruins your whole morning then ditch the scale.

For being rude. People come here for support and not to be judged. I apologize about my first post, as you see I amended it. I shouldn't have mentioned your name. But, seriously, there was no reason for those responses.

Everything will be ok, and things WILL get better. You're still in pain and making adjustments on eating and drinking are not easy in the beginning. Try to stay hydrated, and add in protein how and where you can.
I'm sorry, I don't have answers for you on the insurance question. I will say through my own experience with 4 different insurance companies, what we think they should do or what is fair...isn't always what they do. I wish you well on that and hope it works out for you.
I haven't regretted my decision to be sleeved for one sec, even immediately post-op. I didn't have a lot of pain. But we are all different and tolerate pain differently. I've been waiting many yrs to have the surgery though, and thought it might not ever actually happen. So I am very grateful to have a chance at a healthier life. As things become easier, and you adjust to this way of eating, I hope you become happier with your decision. Good luck!!

I'm sorry you misunderstood what I was trying to say. You were concerned about the long term effects of having part of your stomach removed. I was trying to reassure you that there shouldn't be any surprises down the road because people, for what ever reason, have lived without complications after having part or all of their stomach removed.

Goodness! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I jumped through all of Blue Cross/Blue Shield's hoops and I still was a little freaked out after surgery! That being said, 8 months, 91 pounds, and a size 6 (and some 4's!) later, I don't regret it a bit! The sleeve has been wonderful for me. My only complications were gall stones and kidney stones. Not too high a price, given how I look and MUCH MORE importantly---how I feel! I have energy and I've been released from the bondage of the weight loss obsession.
Hang in there, it WILL get better. Sorry you are getting such negative feedback.

Okay, just got off the phone with Membership Services. All is good!!!!! Yeah!!!
I will be covered for ALL aftercare and am being referred to the aftercare bariatric program if I choose to use it.
I am posting this not to rub it in your face rather than to tell you that you are misinformed and I want to give you the correct and up to date information as per "Membership Services" not YOUR pcp so that you wont, in the future, misinform and worry others.
I will also pm you this message to ensure it reaches you. I worry about you passing on bogus info to others.
I wish you well on your weight loss journey.
Thank you Raine for having my back and I am sorry you had to be treated that way. You are a good person. (((hugs)))

I was supportive and helpful and she didn't like the answers I had for her, just like she didn't like the requirements that Kaiser had for her to get surgery through them. I will not apologize for being truthful, no matter how rude you think I was, that's your problem.

umm... yeah, my husband wasnt supportive of me having this surgery for all of 15 minutes. He expressed his fears and why he didnt want me to do this and then I had to give him a wake up call and remind him that he married me and agreed to support and love me no matter what. If my husband told me that he wouldnt be there for me, I wouldnt want to be married to him. Excuse my language but F-that! That is soo not right. He is being selfish and thats not what marriage is about. After I told my husband how things were gonna be, he has been nothing but supportive and now that he see's how happy I am, he now says "I can't wait till you're SKIIIINNNNNAAAAYYY either!" and thats what being supportive is
