antidepressants and the sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Ok. So went to my OB yesterday, thought I was having a negative reaction to birth control pills. Dr. now thinks I have PMDD, and wants to start me on an antidepressant. I've never been on one before, but my friend was, and she gained weight like crazy. I'm wondering how they'll be with the sleeve, and if there's one that won't cause me to gain weight?

Thanks

It depends on what kind u take. I take Wellbutrin & it can actually help with weight loss.

I'm also on Wellbutrin. I haven't really noticed any change in weight or appetite since starting it about a year ago. I was already at my current weight when I started taking it.

It depends on the medication. Remind your OB that you're a bariatric patient and that you are concerned about weight gain. Wellbutrin is a popular one for its minimal impact on weight gain... However, it may not be effective for PMDD.

Talk with your OB. If you don't like the side effects of the medication ask for something different. You do have a voice in your mental health care.

Just for what it's worth... I take Cymbalta. It's great for depression coupled with anxiety. It's also being marketed for fibromyalgia. I've never been diagnosed with that but I have noticed I have more minor aches and pains on the days I miss a dose of my Cymbalta.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
