Financing my surgery

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there are any hospitals in Florida that will finance the surgery. I have been through two insurance companies and my insurance will not pay for it.

I have been trying to get this done for over 6 months now. Does anyone have any ideas PLEASE HELP!!

I doubt you will find a hospital to finance it. There are agencies out there that loan money for surgery, but I've found the rates to be very high. Do you have a low-interest credit card or could you take out a Home Equity Loan?

I have heard of people using their tax money, 401K, borrowing, student line of credit (need to be a student for this one). Check out different loans. Or make drastic life changes (getting rid of cell, tv, unnecessary shopping..etc) to save as much money as possible. Take on a part time job where all the money can be put into your surgery account. Have the surgery where it is more affordable.

These are only suggestions and I hope you figure out which will be the best for you.

Don't know any hospitals that do financing, and I work in finance. You will need to go through a financing company. Finance companies can provide a list of surgeons who participate in their network.

I was in your shoes not so long ago!

Jupiter Medical Center has a finance program called Access 1, which I used, and they were very reasonable. If you would like to learn more about it feel free to check my blog (more details) or PM me later.

Good luck!

^^^Well for me, Mexico was not a quarter the price. I guess it's all where you go. Dr. Aceves' fee was $8750. For me, that was about half the price of my local surgeons office. Oh, and Dr. Aceves had done about 1000 more sleeves than my local surgeonwink.gif So it's all good!

I used part of my student loan and my tax refund.

Good luck to you!

Have never been sleeved yet...I'm in awe of all of you brave people who casually mention you've had 65-85% of your stomach removed....seems like a pretty serious decision to make...but I am leaning toward the sleeve anyway..I don't like the concept of the lap band and I don't like the idea of a gastric bypass which they say leaves you with a stomach the size of a walnut...so that leaves the sleeve...even though I've heard of another

procedure called the mini-bypass....which is the best way to go to get rid of diabetes...that is my deeper reason for this whole thing....Some surgeons say without reservation that the gastric bypass is by far the best to get rid of diabetes..while other surgeons say the sleeve can be just as effective...anyone have any comments about that controversial subject...the way I figure it...get the sleeve...if it works..great..if not..can always turn a sleeve operation into a gastric bypass but supposedly not the other way around. I need to lose about 100 to 110 pounds....been researching this whole subject for about 1 year and 3 months now....any feedback would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
