WINE....when and how much

Recommended Posts

I'm only 10 days out but i'd like to know what experiences some of you have had with occasional wine with meals or socializing. Can it be added successfully?

Wine has always been a passion/part of my life. We love to visit wineries and sharing a nice bottle out by the pool. I want to be thin but I don't ever want to be so without my wine. I need to learn how to introduce it back into my life and still be successful with my weight loss.

Please share your experiences.... Thanks

I'm exactly the same and I couldn't even bear the thought of not drinking ever again. At 3 months out I had my first glass of wine, and since then I enjoy wine (mainly rose because red wine now seems a bit to "strong") or other drinks(i love cokctails even though they are very high in calories) nearly every weekend. It's hard at least for me to have wine with a meal at this point, because if I do I can't eat, so I have a glass before and/or after, but I'm fine with that for the time being. I have to say my weight loss is much slower than a lot of people on here, but I decided I'd rather have my social life and risk losing a bit slower. I LOVE my sleeve, it has helped and is still helping me to learn to eat and drink in moderation :)

I hated wine before surgery, except for the pink ones. Now I've found that I LOVE a nice sweet Concord. BUT, whereas before surgery I could generally drink (beer) all night and hardly get a buzz, especially if I was eating, a little wine goes a lonnnnng way with me now. I can feel the buzz of one glass, I'm good and toasty after two, and after four a couple of months ago (my first real wine-drinking experience after surgery), I was DA-RUNK. I mean that goofy, leaning sideways with my eyes closed on the toilet seat, slurring my words, stumbling down the hall to do to bed drunk. On four lousy glasses.

So now I'm a lightweight!! That stuff is like kool-aid now though, so I don't keep it in the house on a regular basis--I can see where that could easily develop into a problem for me, especially since that kind of thing runs on my dad's side of the family.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
