Can I have salad?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering when it is okay to have a salad? I love one of the salads at panera, but was told not too much fibrous vegetables yet and wondered how people do on salads in general?

Thanks

It was 8 weeks for me, and I handled them just fine but couldn't eat much of the lettuce... it just filled me up really really fast. Now, I can eat TOO much salad!

I didn't try salad for about the first 4 or 5 months, but when I did I didn't have any issues with it. I don't tend to eat it too much because I usually eat my Protein first and then there isn't much room for that afterwards.

My program seems to be by far the most liberal, and even it says no salad or raw fruit/veg for a minimum of four weeks after surgery. By that measure, you'd be okay to have salad now -- but the nutritionist just today told me to be very careful about which lettuce, picking the more tender ones and using only the green part of the leaf, not the stalky bits that are more fibrous. I would think lamb's lettuce/mache with the stems cut off would be the perfect lettuce for an early salad. That stuff melts in your mouth practically!

Thanks everyone, sounds like I could try it soon, but I will try to wait until three months out to be safe. The salad that I love at Panera has the most moist chicken, also has nuts, so I would focus on that part with just some lettuce, oh, has cheese too, I think Goats or gorgonzola, can't remember. But I am in love with that salad. I just wanted a guideline as to when to have it, so now I have that.

Thanks again

I'm 8 months out and find that lettuce doesn't sit to well with me but I have enjoyed some salads just go light on the lettuce and have to really chew it. I also make sure it's loaded with Protein of course.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
