Ive only lost 10 pounds in 3weeks!

Hey, mine has been slow, too. But my jeans are a lot looser. So it all evens out in the end. (no pun intended!) Don't worry--the weight will come off eventually. Everyone loses at their own rate. The scales will catch up with it eventually.

I think you are doing great. My first month out, in 3 weeks I lost 2.5 lbs. It sucks, but it will come off, just keep doing what you do. Your body is really pissed off at you for having surgery, give it some time to get used to the idea and it will shake some weight loose.

Just keep the big picture in mind. If you loose 10 pound a month, that is amazing. Some question

1. Are you getting all you liquids in?

2. Are you getting all your Protein in?

3. Are you taking Vitamins?

My doctor said that if I wanted to loose weight I would have to do all of the above and then start exercising three weeks post op. If my calorie in take is 600- 800 a day and I exercise and burn from 300-400 calories a day I will see the scale move in my favor. Keep up the good job 10 pounds is good

Hope this helps.

A battle of wills with the little stomach! There is no way you can stay the same weight forever eating so little, it will come off, hang in there.

This is true. Im a little over a month out, and I have stalled twice. Once for a week and a half, and the second for almost a week. I am pretty positive that both times it was because I wasnt getting my required fluids and Proteins in. Also, when I dont get both in I tend to eat more calories.

I was on a 5 day stall until yesterday. I wasnt getting in my Protein or my fluids, maybe half of each. Then after 2 days of getting in all my protein, all my fluids and keeping it under 700 cals, I lost 1 lb the the first day and 1.5 lbs the second. So just hang in there and do your best to follow dr's orders, and you will lose :D

I'm 2 weeks post op and have only lost 15 pounds which includes my 2 week pre-op low carb diet! My doctor and my nutritionist told me not to look at the scale and that it can take 6 weeks for the real weight loss to kick in. Your body is adjusting even though the calorie intake is low. A little patience is all that is needed. Be sure you are getting the rest that you need too! Good luck and I'm sure you'll do great!

Thanks so much for the post. I too haven't had the kind of weight loss I see written about on the site I'm almost 1 month out & have only lost 8lbs. I get all my liquids & protien in so All I can say is this is better than w/o the surgery. I've just gotten to solid foods and I do notice more restriction that when I was on mushies. I haven't been excercising like I should but I'm in Maryland and it's soooo cold here. I can't wait for spring to get out & start walking.

You're doing fine! That's 3.3 pounds a week, and it's in the RIGHT direction. Do the math that's nearly 172 pounds in a YEAR if it keeps up. Look to the LONG TERM.

One thing you could check is your sodium. Make sure you are not taking in an excessive amount. Daily intake is not to exceed 2,380 fir anybody...surgery or no surgery

Thank you posting this. I am having the same struggle. The scale hasn't moved in a week and I am 2 weeks post-op. I get more than enough fluids and Protein. My calories are between 600-700. I am going for my follow-up appointment this afternoon. I am hoping for some encouraging words from my doctor.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
