Where do you get the nectar? Just curious. :)

Hi, March Sleevers!!! Just wanted to update! I'm doing MUCH better! I'm 8 days post-op and things are much easier! I'm not in as much pain, I have over done things 2x and that has set me back a bit, but I'm ok with that! Getting out of the house was worth the pain! LOL! I lost 8.2 lbs my first week for a total of 25.8! WooHoo!!! I'm still struggling to get in 64oz of water....but I'm making it my goal for today!! I'm also getting in 70g of Protein easily! I'm using the Nectar chocolate Truffle protein powder...I LOVE it! Tastes just like choc milk without a funky protein aftertaste! Wonderful!

Anyway! Praying for all of us recovering and for everyone yet to be sleeved! We're all headed toward health!! YAY!

Morning my Marchers,

I am 8 days post op. And as of yesterday I am down 8lbs. My starting weight (Oct) was 264. The day of surgery my weight was 252. And yesterday's weigh-in was 244. A total loss of 20 lbs. Dr. says that I am not in the weightloss phase yet, right now is purely healing. However, I am still excited by the results!!

Hi march sleevers! I finally feel well enough to even type anything up. I was sleeved on3/16 and I am still in the hospital. It has been a ROUGH 4 days. My tummy is very swollen and isn't receptive to most things not even Water. The radiologist said that there is selling at the entrance to my tummy and it is making it difficult for recto get even liquids in. Between that and gas that does not want to go away.

My first night my blood pressure dropped to something like 59/61 and there 6 ppl in my room trying to get it back up . There have been other things but overall everday gets a little better. I am still in the hospital and pray I am well enough to go home today. But we will see . Hope you are are well!

I am finally on the losers bench but I am off to a rocky start! Please pray for me!

I was sleeved on Wednesday. Wow, it has been a wild ride so far!

I was the poster child for the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Didn't go off it one time. I think that part made the surgery go much faster. I was in surgery about 45 min and that included a Hiatal Hernia repair.

My surgery was at 7am. I was in recovery by 8. I was a Forest Park Medical Center (the staff was great!) however, they overbooked (guess they confused surgery with taking a flight on an airplane! I am still wondering if they expected no shows) and there were no rooms available, so I had to stay in Recovery. There was no room for any visitors and no clock or TV. Not that it really mattered the first day since all I did was sleep. I did get a horrible Migraine that night and ended up with the dry heaves and that hurt!!!

The problem was the next day. It was very noisy in recovery and there were no lights above the beds, but the lights in the hallway never went out, so I had no concept of what time it was. Then they tell you to drink every 15 minutes and keep track of it. I didn't have a clock so couldn't time myself, and no lights so couldn't write anything, and they told me not to go to sleep because I needed to get my liquids in, however, with NOTHING to do, it was hard to stay awake. I would walk as much as possible (and I do think that is probably why I feel pretty good today) But I didn't have the advantage of other bariatric patients around so I didn't get any walking buddies.

Today, after sleeping in my own bed I feel much better. My stomach is making bizarre noises, and I am uncomfortable, but not really in a lot of pain. So far, everything has gone down and stayed down. I haven't ventured past Water, Crystal Light and Isopure. I think the worst is the pain medicine. It tastes nasty! However I am going to wean off it soon!

I have to be back to work on Wednesday so no time to wimp out!

Hope the rest of the March sleevers are marching right along!

I am new to VST. I am scheduled for Mar. 23 in SLC, Utah. Very excited and very nervous. Don't like surgery...just looking ahead and hoping for the best. I am having a revision from the band to the VSG. They will remove the band and do the sleeve at the same time...if all is well in there. Thanks to all the posts...I have learned so much from all of you.

Sounds like a rough start, but you will get through it! I had swelling/spasms at the entrance to the new tummy the first few days like you. It was sooo hard to drink anything except warm broth. That always went down easy. Now it is much better and I know you will be just fine, too!

I hope you get to go home today, too. Good luck to you and I will say a prayer for you and all of us Marchers for quick healing! On the road to a healthy us!smile.gif

Sleeved on March 16 and going well so far. I hate this liquid diet thing though - but I have lost 22 pounds so far - whoo hoo! I did have a hiatal hernia also that had to be fixed. But overall going really well. My nightmare was being put in a room with my own version of the "Cops" tv show as my roomate. She kept getting calls at all hours of the day and night - glad I was only there 24 hours because in that time two of her relatives were arrested and put in jail, one was sent to the ER with a broken arm from one of the arrestees and someone got into her money stash and spent it. Good thing all I wanted to do was sleep. Not a gastric patient but they were really full too. I'm praying for you Cindyls06. I hope things come around for you soon. Love this forum.

Congrats Cess! That is crazy about your roommate. Sounds like her life is a soap opera! :) I also hate the liquid diet thing. I am so ENVIOUS when all my family is eating. This will change, I am sure! :) At least it sure better!!!

Hi Dazy - yeah I had a real hard time with psychological cravings last night - everything I saw on TV I was wondering if it would taste good pureed! But I keep looking at the cute black dress I bought on my door and thought that is better than a pureed burger king hamburger. Yep I was desperate. Only two more days til I can go puree and counting the minutes!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
