Thanks so much!!!

You'll be on mushies soon so don't worry until then - a lot of people struggle in the early days. You'll then be able to have scrambled egg and yogurt (Greek yogurt has double the Protein of standard yogurt), so that should help. You'll probably be OK with some fish too.

I actually ended up having the SAME problem. I spent SO much money on different items but everything made me gag at just the thought of it. I finally found that Muscle Milk is actually pretty good! It doesn't have a chalky taste at all. I buy the Light, it's about 8 oz, 100 calories, and has 15 g of Protein. I get mine from Walmart. They sell a pack of 4 for about 5 or 6 dollars. Get a pack and try those. THey have a very similar taste to a Yoo Hoo. Good luck!!

Hay kido hang in there. I ws sleved 2 months ago and I STILL can't get in all my liquids let alone my Protein. My Dr. said do not wory about the protein for now but try to get the liquids down. I was never much of a drinker so it is even harder for me. I do the best I can. You can do this. I have not found ANY Protein drinks that I like. And I have tried them ALL. It will come in time just keep the liquids going. You are gona do GREAT. Vicki

Right now, the most important thing is liquid. If it has Protein, great. If not, don't overly worry about it. Are you allowed milk? If so, you might want to try that - it will give you liquids, Protein, and some nurishment.

I also could not tolerate Protein shakes. I gagged and decided I would just rather die than have another. I did find that I could tolerate powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup. You have to order it on-line, but it may help you (depending on how long your liquid phase it).

Good luck - just try to remember that this too shall pass.

I totally know what you are going through! My tastes have changed since getting my sleeve and so many things make me gag. I have tried dozens of Protein drinks and there is only 1 that I can drink and it doesn't give you a after taste or anything.

It's called "Lean Body" and you can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. It's 17 oz and has 40 grams of Protein. Takes me 3 hours to go through one and doesn't have a after taste. I drink the chocolate Ice Cream.

Also, fat-free milk has 8g of protein in each glass.

Hope this helps and good luck! - Tiffany

Wegman's Supermarket sells this Protein shot called "Proasis." It has ONLy 2.9 oz in the tube and has 25 GRAMS of Protein. What I did the first week was mix 2 oz if diet/decaf iced tea or lemonade with 1 oz at a time. They have flavors like grapes, strawberry, rasberry. I am telling you they are NOT BAD at all. They cost $2.49 per shot. You can beat the protein!!

Good Luck!!!

If you can get in some hot tea how does broth make you feel? I did not experience problems with liquids just the taste of Isopure. Everyone advised me here to focus on getting fluids in and that's what I did, it will get better you have to keep trying. Have you tried Crystal Light? I have 20 flavors here and I just bought the Kellog drink mix with 5mg of Protein, it tastes like strawberry and Kiwi. Whatever you do don't allow yourself to become dehydrated your body has gone through so much trauma already. Another thing is SF popsicles a lot people on the board recommended them though its not my favorite thing in your case it might help you up those fluids. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

I put my Protein Drinks in the freezer and get them really cold and that helps alot, these are the only things I drink cold everything else is at room tempeture, also drinking through a straw might help some.

Good luck

Try carnation sugar free instant Breakfast. It doesn't have as much Protein but is the most palatable drink I've found that has over 10g protein, and it's in pretty much any grocery store. If you like chocolate milk I think you will like it. I also really like kelloggs protein Water. It has 5 g protein per 16 oz and tastes good, like crystal light. I hope these help!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
