Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY :heart: ALL SLEEVERS.

At my Doctors appointment with surgeon getting my date. I am so excited.

I got my date!!..December 26th. Pre_op diet starts on the 12th. I guess its for real now.

Gdm. My baby boy (age 3)and I use to eat snacks (unhealthy) every night before I was sleeved. Last night we had snacks and guess what?? It were heathy. Dried cranberries and Greek yogurt. Being sleeved has changed my eating habits as well as my baby's. I'm happy with my decision.

Thanks guys havent been scheduled yet waiting for them to call me and tell me when so I can start the pre op diet... I got approved on my appeal after Aetna denied me two weeks ago because of lack of weight history... I sent in 09' 10' and 12 was missing 2011 but my surgeon did a peer to peer with aetnas medical director advocating for me!!! Then they called me today and said I got approved I was happy I was crying!!!
