African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Hello again Ladies' date=' just wanted to share a lil bit.........Don't ever wonder if you've made the right choice by getting sleeved, I know this is the greatest journey of my life. Well my diabetes is gone, yep I said gone. My blood pressure is in check. I haven't taken any medication for either since the day before my surgery, docs orders of course....and to ad the sugar free artifitial cherry on top, as of five minutes ago I am 2 pounds from hitting 100 lost....phew. surg. date 9/4/12......start wght 359.......current wght 261.1...... And Ladies tho I don't post often, know I keep all of you in my prayers daily.[/quote']

100 pounds in 3 months is Awesome! Great to hear you are doing so very well:)

Hey I was sleeved on 11/12/12 and I have been able to get down a lot of stuff it almost seems like I didn't get it at if it wasn't for the amount I eat I would think this whole surgery was a fake lol. My surgon does not recommend a liquid diet after surgery pass a day or 2 if your body can take & my body has taken alot . Let me know if anyone else can relate ;0)

Lucky you! I feel like this liquid diet is killing me and I am supposed to go until the 26th my surgery was on the 7th...I confess I have had a few bites of very soft things I just had I chew it to mush and I was fine. If I see one more protein drink I am going to scream it is making me nauseous just thinking about one....

Hi....I am new and just need to vent...

I was sleeved 10/10 and after two bites I am full and can't get the protein in without getting nauseous. I am very weak and am hopeful this will pass. Frustrating!

It will get easier I am still working on getting in my protein via shakes. I have never taken in the 60grams yet and I was sleeved on the 7th.I find I can take a little more each day.

Up can't fall asleep. Spent one day in hospital, feeling funny.
