Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

today I'm 203lbs.

Blood pressure 170/100 now 109/70 or lower. Happy camper!

You look great! I had surgery the same day and I'm down 45lbs as well. I don't know how you feel but I am really discouraged. I know this was a transitional surgery for me and my highest weight was323 now 218ish scale moves up and down but at over three months out I was hoping to see onederland soon.

QweeNique we didn't gain this weight overnight and we shouldn't expect a miracle! You've done so well! Be happy with your achievements. I know I wouldn't have been able to do this without the help of my sleeve. Please set small goals and celebrate when you reach those milestones! Stay encouraged throughout this process.

I'm in New Orleans area too. Maybe we can get together for walking or support group. I plan to attend the August 13th session at Ochsner if you want to meet.

I'm in New Orleans also. We should get together for support group or walking.

You are doing great! I could not have lost 45 pounds in three months without this kind of help...could you? Let yourself be happy with your achievement on this journey...discouragement brings old habits. Blessings;-)

Thank you! I guess I just don't want to get stuck like I did with the band. I'm happy with my results but so eager to get to my personal goal! Thank you for the encouragement!
