African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Sip all day from rise to bed and add protein to everything you drink!

I made it to the losers bench. Sleeved last Friday Aug. 2nd. I am hoping to be sent home from the hospital on tomorrow. Remember to sip walk pee and cough.

Congrats!

I'm Schedule to have mine 8/15/2013 just a little nervous on how my tattoos an skin is going to look I'm scared for the whole process any advice

I'm scheduled for this Tuesday! So excited. I need to do another grocery store run and give my house a good scrubbing this week. I'm hoping to get my hair braided this weekend, along with a mani/pedi.

Who else is coming up?

I wish u both success you will do great. I had surgery 10/29/12 down 87 pounds it is truly worth it but u must b committed to the process and mainly to yourself. There will come a time when your stomach will heal and thats when u will begin your battle. So form great behaviors NOW water, commitment to self, exercise and renew your mind u sb ok. Good luck don't forget to pray and ask God for help he is always there.

Good luck everybody. I am scheduled for 8/16 and I am so excited I cant wait to jump into the rest of my life.

When I was first sleeved it took me an hour to drink 8oz of protein. I would drink all day long from 8 AM to 2 AM to get in my 64 ounces and 70 grams of protein because I didn't want to get dehydrated and yes it hurt if I drank to fast, so you do have to sip all day long.

This is very true as I had the same issue and it does get better. It is very frustrating but you will get past it. I was sleeved on 6/10/13 and I still have a little trouble trying to sip fast but it is a ton better than my first 2 weeks. Hang in there.

I just talked to my insurance company; I GOT APPROVED!
