January 2011 Sleevers

There may already be a January 2011 Group on here somewhere and if so i will delete this one and join. But just in case, I thought I would start one so that those of use getting sleeved next months can become and stay connected.

About me....

I am 40 year old single mom of a 9 year old son. i recently hit 300 pounds, which I have been trying to avoid for a few years now.

I made a decision to get a LapBand at the beginning of this month. As I explored that decision, I decided to go with the Sleeve instead.

I have completed my sleep studies (Yep, got to go in twice! Last one last night...with a CPAP), I've had my psych eval, and I had my consult. I am self pay so it all seems to be moving so quickly and smoothly. I really feel for those who have to deal with insurance. I truly wish it were easier for you.

I cannot tell you the feeling I felt yesterday when I got the call with my date. January 13!

I am going on a cruise with family for Christmas and spending New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with my son in Orlando. We get back on January 2 and then I have my pre-op appointment on the 3. I will start my 10 day pre-op diet and then before I know it THE DAY will be here.

I hope there are a lot of January 2011 Sleevers out there!

I'm having my surgery on 1/24/11. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm scared. Scared of the unknown. You know alot of people were once thin and became fat and have an idea of what to expect. I've been fat forever. I don't know what I might look like or how I will feel (i'm sure better) but still I am starting to get really anxious.

I'm scared about recovery will I bounce back. I know this may seem silly but just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else has had these same feelings.

I am having surgery the same day as you and I just added you as a friend. I could use a little encouragement too. It is kind of scary and it is probably pretty normal to be afraid. Still, I think we will be so much happier and live a longer, more fulfilling life because of our decision. Lets keep in touch!

Looking at dates in January to have VSG,anyone going to San Diego to be picked up? Leaving from Houston Texas,so excited and want to support someone!!

Hi, I am looking at going to do my VSG on the 6th as well, whee are you flying from? I'm in Houston Tx,going to Kelly! ! !

Hey Ladies!

Another January sleever here (6th) Good luck to all of us. 2011 is going to be awesome as we get control of our lives and our destiny.

Peace & Blessings

Hi all! I'm joining you Jan. sleevers. I just found out this morning that I will be sleeved on Jan. 4th! I'm so excited and not nervous.... yet! I've been looking forward to this journey for years!

A little about me.... I am a 27 year old stay at home Mom and Wife. My son is 16 months old and has endless energy. I've been over 300lbs since high school. I reached my highest weight of 350 the day I had my son via c-section. I've been hovering around 320 ever since he was born. I've been heavy my whole life and I'm tired of being the biggest person in the room. I'm also really tired of breaking things like chairs and toilet seats =o( so embarrassing. I'm ready for this!

It's nice to meet you all, I'm glad we are all in the same boat together.

I have to have all my pre-op testing this week, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any ideas?

I'm getting sleeved January 5th. Doesn't seem real. Hard to visualize it. I hope it all works out. I hope I lose weight. I hope, I hope, I hope. Going to start a 10 day liquid tomorrow (for breakfast and lunch) even though doctor told me it wasn't neccessary. I want to make sure I come out the other side strong. Class on Tuesday. Support group too. Get to meet SF David. Woo hoo

I'll be at the support group and the pre-op class tomorrow Lisa. Its a small group and I'm usually the only guy. Pre-op meal plan was doing great until Christmas eve but I'm back on it. I'm having surgery on the 6th with Dr Le. I hope you are doing great. Wow! This is really happening!!!

Just found out today so please make a seat for me in January. My sleeve date is Marthin Luther King Jr. observed birthday Monday 17th with Dr. Irani at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield. WooHoo!!!!

I am having my sleeve done on January 5th with Doctor Corvala in Tijuana. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I do have one question though was anyone else put on a pre-op diet?

I was not and I have heard you are supposed to be so I am wondering why?

Thanks

Liz

Mine is Jan. 24 in San Antonio. It's nerve-wracking to wait, I keep thinking "Maybe this is a big mistake, maybe I could back out." But then I remember How many times I tried only to regain all the weight plus more. This is the best option for me. But, oh do I miss carbs!

Hi everyone, I am penciled in for Jan 29th but I'm currently trying to hurdle the money issue. Is this i worth the money and putting my family without any safety net and some debt. I got through the other emotions now i just have to come to terms with this. Any encouraging word or words of wisdom would be helpful.

You know, I think you are right about the closer it gets, the harder it is to wrap your head around the whole thing and feeling like you're not ready. I feel like I get to that point with myself when I am comfortable about having it done, but then the closer it gets I get worried, I guess I don't realize it is real until it is about to be time. I am scheduled for Jan 27, and I think that getting through the holidays makes it feel all that closer, like a hurdle to get over, I have been saying after the holidays, but now that time is almost here.

I get mine on the 24th!!!!! So nervous. I have a 2 week preop diet so Im a little worried about that.

Hi Everyone I'm a January sleever too on the 7th Jan sounds mad but really looking forward to it I know my surgeon has donr over 850 sleeves alone so pretty sure he might have perfected the surgery by now............................lol I don't know how to join your group I'm new here but please let me know and anyone who wants to add me as a friend please do I will keep my blog up to date as the private hospital I'm going to has internet access and hope to put pictures on too.
