This might not sound like a big accomplishment, but I am soooooo proud of myself. I went to the grocery tonight (which I hate to do because I just want to buy junk) and I didn't buy ANY junk food!!!!! I wanted to soooo badly. I walked down the ice cream aisle and looked and then started walking faster and told myself NO! I walked thru the candy aisle too, and I wanted a resses cup sooooo bad! I saw a pudding cake, and thought, OH YUM, that will go down so easily!!! I kept walking past that too! I even made it thru the checkout lane too without grabbing a resses or anything else! YEAH FOR ME!!!! :) I had a slip a few weeks back where I did buy a resses that I ate, and I did eat a cupcake too. I know it goes down easily, and doens't make me sick. I can't resist it, so I have to keep it out of my house. I am so glad I didn't buy it. I was so proud of myself, I just had to share!

I also wanted to just drive thru Wendy's or Skyline (chili place) instead of going to the grocery because that is so much easier than buying food and preparing it. That was an old bad habit that I got in to. I didn't do that either!!!

I attached a recent picture of me with my doggies from a few days ago. It was in the 50's then, but its snowing today! LOL! I have lost 56 since surgery, 69 total. I was 300.2 this morning. I hope to break the 300's soon!!!! Maybe tomorrow moring or the next day!

I also added some before pictures. Don't look at my messy deck, LOL! I think I was at my highest weight in these pictures. I set the timer on my camera. I hated getting my picture taken, and I didn't want anyone to take my pic :(

I can and I am sure most people on this forum can relate to your story.

I am proud of you too. Good job in not giving in. A lot of people think WSL is the easy way out, but we know that it isn't the case. Everytime we go to the store or drive pass a fast food place we have to make a conscious effort to do what's right for our bodies. Hopefully this will get better with time and good habits.

Awesome job on the weight loss thus far.

Good luck baby girl.:D

You should be proud of yourself. You are making smart decisions and fighting the food demons. We all have them or we wouldn't be here. Congrats on the weight loss!!

PS I am jealous you have Skyline chili. I love their chili!!

Well done you!!! I go through this every time I hit the grocery store too.

Though, I have to tell you... I get a small Wendy's chili for dinner every Tuesday. It just works out perfectly that way, and I've been losing fine. I order the small and just eat until I'm full, which has NEVER been a whole order. I even eat 4 crackers with it. It's a nice treat for me.

I just have to say that these "little" victories is what it is all about, just us becoming more conscious of our choices and habits. You did wonderful even though I know it is not easy or pleasant at times. Your weight loss has been awesome so it is apparent that though you claim you had a couple slip ups, you are staying on track and working your sleeve. I wish you the best! Big hugs.

What a wonderful story! I bet that made you feel so good about yourself. . . whenever that happens to me I grab a diet drink instead and it feels so good. . . most times your mostly thirsty anyhow. . .your breaking out of your shell about how you feel about yourself. . .how wonderful! I'm so proud of you! It feels good to actually start feeling like a normal person and getting pictures taken and all. . .it gets easier, . . i hated having my pictures taken, now it's not a problem at all. . . i still don't like it, but at least it's easier. . . good luck to you and the best of all things to you!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
