1)Do you drink coffee?

2)If so, what do you put in it?

3)How much do you drink per day?

I miss my coffee so much, but afraid if I drink it, the caffeine will harm me or increase my hunger?? is this true?

I drink coffee everyday.

I use powdered Creamer and equal.

I probably drink 2-3 oversized coffee cups every day.

I guess overall caffeine isn't great for you...but ehh....oh well

It's had no effect on my hunger...in fact it probably curbs any hunger I might have in the mornings. I started substituting one cup of coffee for a Protein Shake though because coffee for years has been my "breakfast". So now I have a Protein shake as a substitute for Breakfast.< /p>

I used to drink one cup of coffee in the morning. I stopped of course to prepare for surgery and also the clear liquid stage post-op. I was cleared to move onto to all liquids and purees yesterday, so of course I asked about coffee. I decided to go to Decaf, because I am feeling so good with all the crap (sugar, fat, alcohol, caffeine) out of my system, I figure why start up again?

So I'm doing 1 cup of decaf in the morning. I have a Keurig, so I am using the Breakfast blend decap. I use sugar free Coffeemate french vanilla from the dairy aisle. I also put in 1/2 scoop of unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury whey Protein. This gives me an extra 10 grams of Protein.

I had my first cup this morning.. yum! Missed it! It took me so long though, sipping and feeling full.. I had to stop before I finished it. ah well...

Good luck!

A couple times a week I will treat myself to a regular coffee (Pike Place Roast) from Starbucks, with one shot of sugar free vanilla and sweet and low along with a teaspoon of half and half. I usually will have that and my Protein Bar for breakfast after I drop my kids at school. I haven't noticed it affecting my hunger it actually feels warm and filling, but I am trying to keep my body as cleansed as possible and trying to stay with as much Clear Liquids as possible.

I feel not in the mood today for coffee. Interesting how I used to have to have it asap after waking up in the morning. I agree about feeling cleansed and wanting to stay feeling so good, not bogging myself down with a lot of fats, sugars, caffeine. Wonder if I'll feel the same way when it's time to take a drink of nice chianti?

I have such a love hate thing going on with coffee it's not even funny. I do drink coffee everyday and have since about 2 weeks post op. I make it pretty powerful and put in 3 equals and powdered Creamer. I used to just drink a cup in the morning but lately I've been indulging my craving for an afternoon cup.

Problem is, the caffeine no longer curbs my appetite and the acid sets my stomach off like crazy. I drink my cup and don't even start it unless my gaviscon is nearby. It's ridiculous. I'm having such a battle with acid. I should just not drink coffee then, right? Whatev. Anyway, I thought maybe it was just the caffeine so went with half caff, full caff, etc. A little better and the half caff is not so bad really when I make my own blend.

In doing more research, however, I'm finding that it doesn't matter if its half or full caff - both have tons of acid in them. So, back to the drawing board. Just yesterday, I found Puroast on line - sounds yummy, reasonable prices (coupon code good1) and free shipping so I didn't have to order a ton to compensate for the shipping to find I don't like it. Those of you that live near a Trader Joe's, they have a low acid version if anyone is in the same boat as I am... Anyone?

So, I have my coffee at a cost... to be continued...

BTW, I switched off my ppi about 6 weeks ago and onto a prescription strength neutralizer that doesn't seem to be doing much at all. SERIOUSLY considering going back on... ARGH!

Good luck!

C

Just this past week at work I tried coffee for the first time since surgery. I like it with one Equal packet. Sometimes I add a little milk, but only if somebody makes it really strong. I gave up soda, so I allow myself some coffee in the morning. I think since I had been off caffeine for so long, it affects me more now, though. I stick to 1 or 2 cups a day, though. At home, I have a Keurig as well, and I drink a Decaf. every now and then, but not like I used to.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
