Why so much water

Is that forever or just the beginning when you are not getting nutrient from food? I usually drink about 3 12oz a day and I know that is almost half the amount I will have to. What is the reason and is forever. Everyone talks about the sipping sipping sipping.

I've always read that we need a minimum of 64oz of water/clear fluids a day to help maintain hydration and normal kidney functions. It helps flush all the toxins from our bodies, and is vital in keeping us healthy.

I know when I skimp on Water I just don't feel the same. I've had to tank up on fluids to deal with the low blood pressure issue, and I've been getting in about 80oz of fluids a day on top of coffee, and other stuff. I've felt really great lately getting in the extra Fluid, but find it challenging sometimes getting everything in.

64 oz is a minimum guideline not just for post ops, but for people. One of the recommendations I was given by a nutritionist was to take your weight in half and drink that many oz per day. (I weigh 300 lbs and I should drink 150 oz daily.) I know that isn't a number I can even come close to (unless it is diet coke related :>) So I will manage with the 64 oz.

Does the 64 oz include the decaf coffee? I have trouble with that much water too but if I use the propel packets or some other sugar free low calorie flavoring to the water I have a much better time.

Decaf coffee and teas were on my approved list for Clear liquids. The propel, crystal light, and other sugar-free, decaffeinated additions also count as clear liquids.
