Newbie - Made my decision

Recommended Posts

I have been lurking on the forums for a couple of months now. I want to thank you all for your honest and support right now. I couldn't have made my decision without you.

I spoke to my Dr. yesterday and he agreed that a sleeve was a good option for me. I was ecstatic!!! Now I can't wait for a date.

I have two more nutritionist visits and my psych eval. left to do. I am hoping for a June date, I am a teacher, so I will have lots of time to get in to the swing of things before I have to go back to work.

Anyway.... thanks again for your continued support... I look forward to visiting lots more.

Please be patient with me... I am still learning.

:biggrin0:Congratulations! I am in the process of making my decision and have also been lurking the forums for information!! This site has been so helpful. Everyone's honesty about the process has helped me to make and informed decision. My husband is supportive, as are the friends that I've told. I will have my nutrition and psych evaluation over the next 10 days...then we'll see how I fare with the insurance folks. Great to hear from the folks who went to Mexico for thier surgery--sounds like a good experience.

Avilda & Fitatfifty, welcome to the forums! Congrats on your sleeve decisions as well. I personally think the sleeve is the only way to go, but I am a bit biased too. Best wishes to you both!

A big welcome to both of you. The first few days, I wondered what have I done. But, then the recovery really speeds up. I'm on soft foods now & the restriction/lack of hunger are unbelievable. What a great tool!

I have also been lurking around here since my doctor recommended this surgery. I am glad I found this site as I have a bunch of questions and as I get answers I find out that I have even more. Best thing I see about this site is that I can learn from others what to do and what not to do!

My Bariatric doctor who has treated me on and off for over ten years used to not believe in surgery but rather treated using medication, exercise, and group support. But this time when I went back to see him after 3 years, he suggested the sleeve rather then the meds. Thankfully he wants to keep the exercise and group which I know is the only way for long term success.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
