Flavor. Mushy stage.

Recommended Posts

I made this today (super easy!) and it actually had some flavor! :)

Old El Paso Refried Beans-I did not buy the fat free ones. I needed some flavor.

I ate 1/4 of a cup. I put a 1/2 in my bowl, but could only eat 1/4 of a cup.

So here is the makeup:

1/4 cup Old El Paso Refried Beans: 45 calories, .25g fat, 8g carbs, 2.5g Fiber, 2.5g Protein.< /p>

1/2 tbsp low fat sour cream, 1.25g fat, 20 cal, protein 1g, carbs 1g

1 tbsp Ortega taco sauce, 0 fat, 10 calories, 2g carbs

I also sprinkled a little bit of shredded cheese on top. I didn't measure the cheese because it was such a small amount.

I put it all in a small bowl and mixed it up. It was really good. Here are the totals:

75 cal

1.5g fat

11g carbs

3.5g protein

So yeah, not a ton of protein, but it is something! It was really yummy!

Thanks for sharing. I've been getting a little creative in my "spice-up" as well.

That is one of the things I was DYING for during my liquids-only stage. The other night my hubby decided he wanted Taco Bell and I said "YAY!!" and had him get me a pintos & cheese. Could only eat half of it but it was SO good!

Sounds YUMMY!!!

did you heat the Beans before or after you added the Sour Cream?

I have been hooked on Taco Bell Refried Beans.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

hey excited2lose,

I used to do something similar, but instead of sour cream and taco sauce, I'd stir in some good enchilada sauce. Also, if you use greek yogurt instead of sour cream you'd pick up some more Protein. Nearly the same taste. (just something to consider)

Never worry about the high carbs in Beans ....they're complex carbs, high in Fiber and super great nutrition.

I am going to try to do it with greek yogurt next! Great idea! I also read where someone said to make egg salad with greek yogurt. Hmmm....I am going to the grocery store in the morning to get some new ingredients.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
