Here are a couple NSV's for me. I'm sure others have had these but I just couldn't wait to post an NSV so here they are.

1. I can wrap my bathroom towel completely around me when getting out of the shower! Sure the towel edges only overlap an eigth inch but they used to be almost 2 inches apart.

2. My butt fit into the theater seat at my childrens play! No more squishing my wide hips in there. I fit just right. Maybe in a year I will be able to say that there is room on each side??

As one could imagine from these NSV's, I carry alot of my weight in my butt/hips. So far that is where I am losing most of it too. I am totally good with that. In my pics, I can see wt loss in several other areas too. I'm excited to find out what my next NSV will be.

Ok don't laugh! He said I looked exactly like executive chef from nyc Claire Robinson lol! She is so pretty I don't see the comparison at all but I did take it as a compliment and again just the fact that she is 11 years younger was awesome!

You do resemble her a lot!

Here are my NSV's

1. I can share clothes with my sisters again!

2. I can fit into a park swing

3. I can wrap a towel around my body

4. I can cross my legs! (just a little though) hehe

5. I feel more energetic

6. I am more confident

7. My 11 year old son can finally wrap his arms around my waist (by the way, most of his friend don't recognize me since the surgery. A couple of them have walked right by me without noticing whose mom I was. It's cute to see their shocked expressions when they realize it's me!)

8. For some reason, my memory has very much improved!

Oh, I had an AWESOME NSV today!! I am laughing at myself because this meant so much, but, Oh Well!!

I do contract work for builders, so I travel to their sales centers fairly often. At one, there is a really sweet guy there (I think he's gay, but...) and I hadn't seen him in about 3 weeks. Today I was standing in the back room making copies and he walked into the room, stopped, did a double take and said "You look positively skinny today!"

I really don't look "anything" skinny, but it was such a nice morale boost to me! ::::sigh:::: It's the little things. :)

I take my NSV's when ever I can since the scale moves so slowly for me.

I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to purchase size 14 jeans last week. Not 14W, but regular Levi's 14's (I swear Levi's run just a tad bit smaller than other brands) I even bought a pair of skinny jeans. The smile was plastered on my face.

I have donated all of my old clothes, 2X tops and pants that were 20-22's. My closet is so empty and so is my dresser. The 16's I bought 2 months ago are going to a friend next week. I can't remember the last time I wore a Large anything.

you guys, how in the world do you get one of those tracker things everyone has on their comments?

oh, by the way: I live in the Denver area and I was "sleeved" on 12/12. I was 255 2 days before surgery, my weight the day of surgery was 251 and I am now down to 239! and so thrilled! I don't know how much longer I can stand the yogurt or cottage though! I am in the "pureed" stage until Jan 12!

Ha ha, great little nsv!

I'm staying with my in laws for Christmas, so the whole family was over yesterday, and whilst tidying up the aftermath my mother in law phones my sister in law to tell her our seven year old niece has left her coat behind.

She was just about to dash it over to them when I heard my daughter's panicked cry of "No, dont that's MUMMY'S coat!"

I get that I'm smaller, but seriously, confusing my clothes with those of a 7 year old???

Made me smile! ;)

OK, here's one for the books... Last night I was at the grocery store. I was pulling out to leave when the wind blew a cart loose (yup, it was a strong persistent windy rainy day yesterday). I didn't want it to hit any cars, so I put my car in park and ran (ok, slowly but still) after the cart. After retrieving it, another one blew loose and I was able to grab that one too. I got back in my car and realized that before surgery I probably wouldn't have stood a chance of catching the cart - much less two. So it may not sound like much, but I'm definitely getting more confident and active.

I have lost 56 lbs half way to goal. I was in the grocery store with my son last week and sent him to another aile to get something. When he didn't come back I went looking for him. When I did he said he walked down the aile about 4 times and didn't recognize me thinking "that is not my mom". Lol. That made me feel really good.

Some recent NSV's:

1. I fit in an airplane seat without my butt squishing onto the next seat. lol

2. I put on a pair of size 16 jeans and they fit!! (I started at 24)

3. My boss and co-worker keep telling me how jealous they are of my hourglass figure and how they wish they had a tiny waist like mine. biggrin5.gif

I bought some new pyjamas for my seven year old, and when we got home the clothing size and the size on the pack were different, and were far too big for my 7 year old! I was a bit miffed as I lost the receipt, so couldnt change them.

Joking with my daughter I tried them on for a giggle and THEY FIT!!!!!!

They are size 13-14 years!! Ha ha, I am typing this in my new rather mini, minnie mouse pyjamas - Yay! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!

NSVs this week:

1. Had to buy new bras because mine were allowing the girls to escape.

2. Had to buy a new pair of jeans. Mine came off without being unbuttoned or unzipped. Unfortunately, the new ones are already looking baggy.

3. Saw a friend's hubby this week for a sad occasion. I don't see him much, but , when I went to hug my friend's hubby, HE commented on how much weight I've lost.

4. Chopped down and cut up four trees in my new yard. Okay, they weren't huge, but still a lot of work I'd have never been able to tackle before surgery. I got a decent work out, but was able to do the job myself instead of waiting on "some man" to come do the job.

5. In the same vein, I've spent a bunch of time rearranging furniture and crawling on the floor to re-route computer, cable, and printer wires. I'd have NEVER been able to do that 81 pounds ago!

Overall, I'm very pleased with my progress!!! :)

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
