Yes, it takes a few days or maybe even a few weeks for the fill to settle down for me. In the mean time, I just have to baby my band. :)

my doctor requires his patients to do liquids the first day of your fill and soft foods 2 days after that because of the swelling!

Anytime you get a fill or even an unfill, it is good to do liquids for a day or two and then mushies for another day or two. :) Hope this helps!

Fills can be tricky for up to a week after. Many people get a fill and don't think much of it and then it hits them later in the week. Just take things slow for several days and get used to it slowly. If you get to the point where you can't drink liquids you need to call your doc.

The stuck feeling is terrible... I get super bloated after a fill and have to eat Soups & mushy foods until I feel better.

Just had my 3rd fill. Dr. always advises to do 2 days of liquids and then 2 days of mushy slowly going back to solid Proteins.

That always seems to work for me. They say it takes about 2 weeks for the affects of the fill to be noticeable. The first fill I didn't feel anything even a month later, the second one was keeping me pretty well for about 6 weeks, and then I noticed I was eating a little more then I should be. Here's hoping 3rd time is the charm :)

Is it unusual for there to be a bit of a delay in "issues"? I had a fill last Monday, followed the rules to a T and started softs on Wed evening (mashed potatoes)...on Friday, I had a Clif Builder Protein bar...no issues.

Friday night, I went to Taco Bell w/ my fam. I chose a Mexican pizza and had about 3 tiny bites and it all came back up. In about the same form it went down...tho I did CHEW!!

So, since then I've not been able to really eat anything. My shakes are even iffy...?

I have had Fluid removed twice and Dr says I am WELL BELOW the "normal" capacity for this far out (July 2012). I seem to be hyper-sensitive to a fill, and certainly anything more than a "smidge" will not work at all.

So, I AM drinking Water w/ no problem. Just sips.

Should I just take it easy for a couple more days? Maybe I just over-did it too soon? I did follow his instructions, but maybe I did just get in a hurry since I'm so touchy.

Also, I have a LOT of gurgling noises that echo around my throat...is that common??

I've lost 46...20'ish more to go. I don't want to go backwards...

Thanks!

Kim

pizza anything... including taco bell because its dough doesn't normally go down... at least for me... and esp after a fill! anything with yeast swells when wet and therefore is more likely to get stuck... I know this isn't the case for everyone on this sight but im pretty sure its like this for majority of us on here... I would def go back to square 1 and do the liquids and then try softs again.... im not an expert but its just what I think I would do!

Thanks, Jenn....I'm trying. Have a SPLITTING headache. Think I may try to drink some broth or something and take a little nap. Hope to feel better. Feeling kinda nauseated, maybe just from the headache, or having eaten virtually nothing for 2 days.

Thank you for the input! I'll give it another day or so and see how it goes!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
