I'm 8 months out and no difference either but I've learned the correct way of eating by counting calories and feel it is beneficial that when I finally hit the sweet. Spot I'll have my food intake under control. I've said it before, slow and steady wins the race, I'd rather have small fills than wind up being over filled.

I had my attitude set exactly like you said it.. But my bad habits kicked in after 6 weeks of being banded... I was eating before today a whole chicken for example slowly.. Occasional stuck episodes when eating fast or eating bread but the quantity was still big.. And all the weight i last (20lbs) came from the liquid diet pre-op.

I had to adjust the band again.. Thanx for ur input.

Tala, congrats on feeling green :) It's great ey ? :)

So, let me start by saying, day 1 of fill can give you a false idea of what your restriction will be. The stoma will be swollen and as that swelling dissipates you may feel your restriction going down. This is why we get fills every 4-6 weeks to stay on top of that restriction loss. But eventually you will be green and although swelling goes down, you still feel that perfect restriction.

When I reached green, it was 3 years until I needed to tweak my band restriction. I am still tweaking it to get it right. But the point is, once you are there it lasts much much longer :)

Enjoy and respect your band :)

In a 14cc band, don't be surprised if it does not last...happens to everyone...at least you getting a taste of what it is all about, and things to come if you don't back down and resist change....

I've only had 3 fills, in the first 4 months from surgery, for a total of 7cc's, but in a much smaller band.....have not had, or needed a fill in over 2 years...I can "tweak" my band myself, routine maintenance, by paying attention to the feedback I get from the band, (portion sizes) and go straight liquids from time to time for a few days to let things settle out and return to a optimum state....

It will last for about 2 weeks, then it will loosen a bit but not by much. Sounds like this one put you in the green zone to me. Take it easy, I'm tight like that and it can be tricky sometimes, but you're going to love the results.

We have the same surgeon! Don't you just love Dr. Reilly? A word of advice though, the bread is going to slow your progress - you should avoid carbs at all costs until you are in maintenance. I've had 3 fills and I don't even dare try to have bread, Pasta or rice anymore - that's asking for trouble.

I live in NW Houston near Willowbrook, where are you?

Isnt he gorgeous! I melted lookn into his deep blue eyes!

Im in houstons southwest area. I went to the clinic in the medical center for my first fill. I love the staff there.

And yes i knooooow about the bread/carb thing but i cant help it!

I know im suppose to be doin the no carb, 4oz meal, 3x a day but itll be easier when im more than 4cc's in this 10cc band!!

I wish there was some way we cld adjust ourselves...now wldnt tht be detrimental?!?

LMBO!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
