How to apply for my lap band ID card?

Recommended Posts

How do I get my lap being ID card? Keep going out with my family to eat and I am only 3 weeks post op and one place was going to have me pay Even though I was not eating. I Try to explain that I can't eat and they just did not care.

I have wondered about this. What does having this card "mean"? What does it say? Do many restaurants honor it? Give a discount?

My doctor had the form. Or call the lap band 800#. I use the card in restaurants all the time.

My surgeon gave me a lapband packet from allergan to get the card. I had to fill out a little postcard sized paper with surgery date, band size, and surgeon name and received my card in the mail. I did actually have to ask my surgeon for the packet because they also issue their own card.

The back says something along the lines of "this person has had weight loss surgery and cannot eat normal portion sizes." I've honestly never used it but thought it would be a good thing to have just in case because of the information it had printed on it about my band.

From what I understand, some will honor and let you order off the kids or seniors menu. There is no guarantee that they will honor it though.

I'd rather walk away from most of my meal rather than show a card like that. I know that's probably silly but I'll be damned if I advertise to a server that I'm banded.

I have eaten out at every kind of restraunt from REd Lobster to Red Robin.. never had to worry about it.. just said I wanted a smaller portion, child's portion or Senior... of course I am a senior but they never ask for I.D... I have a card but never had to show it.. any restraunt that would charge you for sitting at the table is terrible.. I'd make sure I talked to the Manager or even go higher up to Corporate...

I received a card stating that I have had lapband surgery please allow me to order smaller portions and/or order from the kids menu. I honestly didn't know I needed one. But some restaurants won't allow adults to order off the kid menus.

So far, the restaurants I've shown my card to are pretty understanding. I ask for child's or lighter portions, and explain & show my card.

I'm always nervous though that they are going to, I dunno, be upset or weird with me. But, so far, so good.

I too received mine from my surgeon's office. I also use my card all the time to order smaller portion meals. No, there is no discount but it does help to order from the kid's menu. :D I haven't encountered any restaurant that didn't honor it. They were like okay with a smile.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
