Recommended Posts

Ok I'm going to show my ignorance here, but I'm dying to know. Now that they are classifying obesity as a disease what things will that help to change? And when does it all start, now? Thanks for you input.

Hopefully, more insurance companies will be willing to pay for treatment.

I suspect the only change will be in terms of insurance coverage. I don't see any kind of change in how society views fat people. We're still going to be despised, loathed, and discriminated against.

I hope it changes the perception that all obese people are lazy.. and dumb or gluttons.. I also think the insurance coverage might be expanded.. hopefully more payment will be made for counseling, weight loss programs or nutritional programs..

I watched Dr Nancy Sniderman on the Today Show discussing the impact this will have and the major impact is that all insurance companies will have to start recognizing it.

I'm guessing there still will be a lot of ignorant ppl discriminating against obese ppl. After all, you can't fix stupid.

I think it could also affect the workplace and the ins cos like other people had mentioned - maybe also affect social security benefits ? I guess we will have to see. I'm sure there's lots of obese people that cannot work and maybe it will help them get some benefits they weren't previously entitled to! Let's hope!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
