May Surgery Dates???

Recommended Posts

Am I the only person in this forum who can't handle doing my "social" things?? I thought about going bowling with some friends instead of eating out, but when I think of bowling, I think of french fries. Then I thought maybe my husband and I could go to the movies this weekend..do a date night without the dinner. BUT, I can't go to the movies and not eat popcorn, or ANYTHING.

BLAH, I am 9 days on this preop diet, and getting antsy for my social life, but not ready yet to face it.

Ok so I was doing great on day 1 and 2 and now im only on day 3 of the pre op diet And its getting rough. I know it's all going to be worth it jn the end.

At my job we have a lot of down time and in the back room everybody pretty much eats non stop! It's tough being around everyone eating when I'm sitting there starving! I just had to come outside and sit alone for minute so I wouldn't go crazy!

I'm so glad I have somewhere I can share my feelings and know you all understand

I understand completely!! I stepped out of the house and worked on things outside a couple times in the beginning when my wife or son would eat dinner or something. But, after a few days it didn't bother me anymore. Like tonight, after football practice I took my son and his friend to our fav ice cream shop and sat and watched them eat ice cream. Didn't even bother me. I know it's not an option and it doesn't even register that I want it. It's weird and kind of hard to explain. Good luck!!

I haven't had any problems, but can understand why someone would. For me food is/was a part of functions or get togethers. I still go to them, I just sit and drink my Water while everyone else enjoys food. Don't let the pre-op diet hold you back, get out and enjoy your life! But, with that being said I don't think I'd go to the movies either, the smell of the popcorn plus being used to scarfing down food for the whole movie would make it tough! Lol

Well my surgery went great. I had it about 130 pm yesterday and got home a little after 9. They gave me liquid loritab fir pain but I don't like the way it makes me feel so I haven't been taking it. I'm not in a lot of pain pain just the gas pains also the pain from b being tense cause I'm cold. Mire than likely I'm going to get something in my stomach then try to take the med and hope it doesn't make me nauseated.

DisneyMama, it is so nice to hear from one of you that had surgery! The rest of us May banders were feeling for you. You got home quicker that I thought. And, thank you for the update on pain. Keep us posted

I just finished all my required tests, did all my paperwork, did my 6 month supervised with a dietitian, insurance approved, and I am waiting for the Dr.'s liaison (helper) to call me back with a date which could be as soon as next week!!

I will post the exact date soon as I find out, but I know it will be in May :)

had mine yesterday! You will do great. Its really not that bad, more uncomfortable and irritating feeling than actual soreness. I havent had to use any pain meds yet, and the only reason why i am getting ready to is so that i can take a nap soon. One think I would suggest is wearing PJ's that button up with a sports bra rather than regular clothes. Its much easier putting on a button up shirt rather that one over your head. :) If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message or add me as a friend.

Soooo Day 3 pre-op.... tough. I commend those of you that have been through so much longer. Does anyone else find themselves angry/crabby? I hope this goes away at some point... otherwise I am going to be the world's biggest *B (you-know what) soon!!

The first week was tough for me. BUT, I'm coasting through week two! Hopefully things will get easier for you like they did me! YES, I was VERY irritable the first week (ask my wife!) Lol. This got better once I adjusted and started feeling better. I think it's completely normal, I've read of plenty others that say the same thing. Good luck, it gets easier! It did for me anyway. Finishing up day 11 looking forward to Monday!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
