First off yes you may be more sensitive or perhaps more aware of food passing through. I know I can tell when some foods pass. When you say the first two bites hurt does it feel like it's stuck and will not go down? Is it all foods and is at any time of the day? Or certain foods? It sounds to me like perhaps those first couple of bites are either too big or you are not eating slow/chewing enough. Bite size should be about the equivalent of your pinky finger nail.

When you say you are getting hungry 2-3 hours after eating are you sure it is pure physical hunger and not head hunger? Also with the band your belly may seem to be more vocal like stomach growls. This is perfectly normal and does not necessarily mean hunger.

I am not a doctor but the last thing I would suggest is a fill until you figure out what is going on. I would bypass the nurse and talk with the Doctor and explain what is happening.

I have to get out the door for work but I will check back in a bit.

Question- when I eat, the first two bites hurt, like I swallowed a piece of candy whole. I can feel the food passing thru the band. Then I don't feel it anymore. I am taking small bites, chewing a lot. Does anyone else experience this? Should I be able to feel the food passing down into the stomach like this? I have had four fills and am at 5 3/4 cc in the band. Since I'm getting hungry 2-3hrs later I don't know if I am too tight or need a fill. I have drastically cut carbs since getting banded and increased Protein. Like some of you, it feels tighter in the morning so I drink a Protein shake. I spoke with the bariatric nurse and she suggested drinking something warm before eating. Is this normal? I don't get things stuck and I don't vomit. Just feel sort of confused at this stage.....

FYI-When you post in the middle of someone else's topic, you're hijacking their thread. You should start your own topic otherwise you won't get the feedback you deserve. I don't think you meant to do this and we're all guilty of meandering away from the original topic but to receive the most responses you should start your own thread.

I'm sorry I never meant to "hack" anyone...what a term. I know you veterans are probably tired of hearing "I'm new to this" but I am and learning how to use this site. Forgive me, k?

Thank you Jim for replying to me and giving me helpful information. I've been told I "hacked" in to this thread so I apologize. Won't post anymore on here since I don't know how to use this site. I've seen other replies saying someone "hacked"a thread. Thanks again for your info and someone new to this site. To answer your questions, no food doesn't feel like its getting stuck, and just some foods. The funny thing is the hunger doesn't bother me, I'm just aware of my stomach growling. The band did its other job of controlling my appetite even when I do feel the hunger. They just always ask me when I go to the doctor about feeling hungry. I don't think I need a fill either. Will talk to my doc. Thanks again Jim. :0)

HiJack, not hack. Hi-Jack simply means that you took a topic off of it's original course. And it's really not a problem for me since I'm guilty of doing the same on occasion. I was only suggesting you start your own thread/topic so you receive more responses to your specific question. I'm not condemning you or your post, I'm tying to help you so you can be more successful. :(

Don't go away, stay and just meander around till you become more familiar with the forums. No one is going to slap you down, we're here to help.

Same thing happened to me i was denied my 1st fill and had to wait till i was 2 months post op. i lost 5 lbs in 1 month and since my fill still no weight loss. Im embarrassed and go for my 2 nd fill monday. I want this to work so bad! I measure my meals and drink tons of Water. I allow myself my coffee and low fat flavoured Creamers. But i don't always get in 3 meals i believe due to stress. I am hoping for a fill and i will continue to work hard. Is this common to not have weight loss during first 3 months?

I have had my band since 11/9/12. (4-5 months out) Went to the doctor's last week and the nurse didn't want to give me a fill because the scale showed that I was still loosing. I've never expierenced vomiting yet which makes me wonder if I'm too loose. For a while I was eating the same ol' things like oatmeal, Protein Bars, half sandwhiches with cup of Soup, fish, chicken ect. Here lately I feel like I'm eating everything in site.....even when I'm not hungry. Snacking seems to be an issue too. How do some of you stay on track? I know the band is just a "tool" but I feel like since I haven't had any "side effects", I feel like I can just continue to eat. Trying to stop once full isn't easy when all your life you like to eat because it taste good. Help????

You are not suposed to vomit . If you are looking for that as a sign that your band is right you may want to do some research. I stop eating after I have eaten the measured amount per my doctor.. Your goal should never be to feel full. You want to learn how to be satisfied"as

I see you are new here so don't take this the wrong way but you've hijacked this thread. Hi-Jack meaning that someone started their own topic and you are taking it in your own direction? Not a bad faux pas but if you want a response you should start your own topic so that more people see it and you'll get more responses. I think most of us are guilty of doing this at some point but I'm just offering advice so you get more help.

To answer your question, Hely is right, don't vomit, you can ruin your band if you do so. The foods you're eating won't give you the satiety you need to be successful. They're all slider foods. Here's a link to a variety of videos that will inform you better about what you should eat, drink and how this band thing works. You might want to set aside an hour to watch every one of them? Good luck.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
