Any bandings in April???

Recommended Posts

I think I've been lucky, my pain was very tolerable, gas was only bad on day 3 and i was able to drink and take my food very well. My only issue is that one incision where my port is. I'm sorry that you have had pain. Hang in there. :-). I still get these weird tugs now and then but overall my pain is very manageable. I hope that after my first fill I continue to feel well.

Me as well I was banded 4/26 only had to use my pain med 1 time for the first 2 days. Been able to walk and get around just fine. Been able to eat and drink just fine also only time I feel some discomfort is when I would turn on my side to sleep or move a certain way walking but other than that I have been ok. I still get this tightness in my stomach. I hope you all that are having pains feel better hang in there from what i have read it will get better.

I think I've kinda experienced this but I always stop myself. It's like I have to burp but feels like I'm going to vomit so I stop myself and its hurts like heck! I just walk and move around and then I can burp somewhat normally then it stops? Not sure if that's what u mean but either way its not fun... Are u eating ok? I had surgery the 24th as well

I actually started to feel sick around 2pm yesterday so no...i havent been eating hardly at all...maybe 1/4 cup of Protein shake...I'll be getting GasX today to see if that helps. I dry heaved for 4hours last night...finally it stopped around midnight. I can't stop the heaves...I tried, but they are coming up regardless. I'm going to call doc today too. I feel great this morning, but anything I can do to prevent a night like last night again I'll do!

Oh no! I hope you guys start feeling better. I was banded on the 24th and had the most horrible neck n shoulder pain from the gas,,, i did sip a couple sips of warm ginger ale..i burped walked and it seemed to go away by Saturday.. i also used a heating pad... maybe a peppermint or spearmint tea would help as that aids digestion? I hope you guys feel better!

I was banded 4/24 and I have to say I expected less pain. I also had to have my gallbladder out at the same time so maybe that's y? I don't know where my port is but one particular incision is giving me heck and not sure if that's where they had to dig the GB out of or what (GB had lots of scar tissue apparently). It hurts like heck when I bend or move on one side and the incision is constantly talking to me lol. Anyone else had their GB removed also or prior to banding?

I had my GB removed back in 03.. and i feel like my port is on the left and that is what hurts the most... i dont remember much pain with the GB as i was driving a few days after .. if the pain persists i would call the doctor .. how does the site look.. is it draining or anything?

No, all the incision sites are healing fine and no drainage. The surgeon said I had a lot of scar tissue and it took longer than usual to get the GB out so maybe that's y it's more painful. I also did way too much yesterday. I picked up all the laundry in the house and washed, dried and folded, walked the dog and cleaned up around the house a bit. That doesn't seem like much but it took me forever and it was tooooo much bending! So I paid for it last night! Anyways, everyday it's getting better so that's all that matters :)

I had the dry heaves yesterday, but my Dr prescribed promethazine for nausea and vomiting, so I took one of those and ate a popsicle. I felt better in about an hour.

Chest and shoulder pain so badly

Hi Mysa, This part sucks. A lot of people say the liquid diet is a right of passage, but I think the dang pain after the surgery should be. The best advice I can give you is what everyone else has told me. That is to walk, walk, walk, drink Water and stick to the diet your doctor gives you. This will go by so fast, it will be a memory. I pray a speedy recovery for you, in Jesus name. Amen.

Well that's a worry for me too but so far no issues. My sister had the surgery done about 6 yrs ago and she said her hair did start falling out at one point but after a while things returned to normal. So, don't worry too much :)

Finally starting to feel a little better. Seems like things have quieted down in here. I guess everyone is focusing on recovery or back up and feeling better. Which ever the case, I wish you all well.

I know my nutritionist and surgeon both said not to worry about weight loss your first month.. your body needs to heal. and i know my first week (4/24) i was still swollen and sore for surgery. And i still am as it has only been 10 days. Wish you the best

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
