Surgery Scheduled for March

I finally got my insurance approval only to find out that my surgeon's hospital doesn't have availability until March! So now I'm scheduled for my band on March 6, 2013.

I've been doing a pre-op diet of 2 shakes and one small meal per day since Jan 2. So far only a couple mis-steps but I'm really looking forward to having the band as a tool to help me out. And I look forward to chatting with other March Bandsters! :D

Good luck everyone, please let us know how you are doing after surgery.

Day 6 of pre op diet is going well, I weighed myself this morning &have lost 4 lbs, it's encouraging to see that dial go down! It gives me more stamina to stick it out until surgery. I'm tempted to snack on my son's food though! I'm finding coffee in the afternoon helps me curb cravings.

How's your pre op diet going dazzlingone? What kind of veggies are you having? I'm into sugar snap peas right now, they are so good!

Hello March Banders surg went well a little port pain and soreness nothing major yet no nausea so far and headed home to my bed! :)

I can't have veggies. No food. Only protein shakes, broth and cream soups. Sf jello, sf Popsicles, crystal light and those type of sf drinks. That's it. I think I'm doing good considering, but what I wouldn't do for some fried chicken! But I'm hanging in there!

Congrats! My surgery also went well, although I had nausea off and on all of yesterday and even threw up a little which freaked me out. Today I am very bloated, they say I need to walk a lot today. Overall I am okay just some soreness in my belly but nothing major.

The weird part of this al is that as I sit here (I'm in the hospital soon) I keep thinking....did I really just do this!!

Congrats ChicagoRose I did get some nausea last night I thought I was going to vomit but nothing came out! My recliner and an ice pack over the port has been my best friend! Do you have an appetite yet? My Dr said I can have broth and protein shakes 30 grams today but I have no desire not sure how that's going to happen??

Surgeon just called to discuss my flipped stomach with me. He let me know that there is a chance that he may run into problems with me during surgery & not be able to band me. Please keep me in your thoughts that all goes well tomorrow a.m. Thanks.

Oh my! What is a flipped stomach? I pray that all goes well for you.

I have a surgery date of March 13! I'm so excited! I really am having a tough time with the pre opt diet though. I have been trying to keep busy and when that fails, I sleep. Hope you all do well with your surgerys. Good luck!!!

I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope everything goes well, but if he can't band you tomorrow stick with it and find another solution.

It's strange the bottom of my stomach is flipped & is at the top. Hopefully he will be able to put it back in place & tack it with a stitch then band me. The GI Dr said it is flipped upside down & it is also a complex hernia. The surgeon said he has never see one before & if he cannot get it back in place he cannot band me. Said I will have to go to a thoracic surgeon & have it fixed before banding. I know there is a long term solution but just hoping it is an easy fix & only 1 surgery. :) Thanks all.

Congrats and good luck to all having or had surgery this week. Mine was on March 1 and today is the 5th and I feel great. Gas is pretty much gone and insisions look and feel great. It is hard to believe a week ago I was still on preop diet and stressing about surgery! It all worked out wonderfully. :-)
