Surgery Scheduled for March

I finally got my insurance approval only to find out that my surgeon's hospital doesn't have availability until March! So now I'm scheduled for my band on March 6, 2013.

I've been doing a pre-op diet of 2 shakes and one small meal per day since Jan 2. So far only a couple mis-steps but I'm really looking forward to having the band as a tool to help me out. And I look forward to chatting with other March Bandsters! :D

I'm March 18th too!!! FREAKING OUT! I'm so excited' date=' but not looking forward to telling my dad... I mentioned wanting a band about a year ago and my family just doesn't think that I need it. "Work your little a** off to work your little a** off." Has anyone else experienced people saying that you don't "need" the band? My consultation was on February 6 and my insurance approved 2 weeks later. I think I'm obviously a good candidate.

I read all of this thread - I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone! Good luck on the pre op diets - mine starts 2 weeks out ð[/quote']

My husband and sister are the only ones that know. My mom would be totally against anything surgery related. My sister mentioned considering wls last year and she just flipped out. Chose not to share with dad either. Some things you just have to do. It's not about them anyway, it's about changing our lives. I wish you all the best! So glad we have each other. We are in this thing together!

Hi Everyone!I just got my surgery date last night, March 9th! I have to start my liquid diet on Thursday. I am really happy, but now very nervous, mostly about the anesthesia. I have had surgeries before, and I hate that moment you are put under, everyone in masks, the operating room etc... I hope they can give me something to relax. I look forward to sharing our journeys!

Congrats Abbie! I bet if you ask they can give you something to relax.

Preop diet starts Tommorow!

My preop diet started today! So far so good.

I started pre op diet today, I'm very hungry!!!!! Oh this is hard! I had a slimfast high protein shake at 12, it's 1:20 and I'm hungry!!!!! H e l p!

Abbie, drinking water or chicken broth really helps me feel fuller. I have recently started drinking flavored herbal hot teas, and those help, too.

d9leigh...good luck. It will be rough the first few days but it gets soooo much easier. I am on day 7 and as long I do not smell food I am good.

Day 1 was not terrible...a little hunger nothing crazy.... :-)

This is day 2 of my liquid diet. Day 1 was no problem at all. Today experienced some hunger and I was a little light headed.

Realized I needed to drink something. Did Water and a fudgesicle, it helped. We can do this!

Today was my best day yet and I am on day 8. Best of luck everyone, we can do it!

How many days do you have to do?

Well I did well today in the end, this is my day one. I am allowed 5 protein shakes, plus 2 cups of raw or steamed veggies. I made it through with 4 shakes and a big bowl of salad, which was yummy! I had 2 tbsp of fat free Italian dressing on it. I'm hungry now but I will just have a cup of milk before bed. I CAN do this for the next 10 days!

The hardest part was feeding my 21 month old who is a very picky eater, he likes to watch me eat something before he does. I pretended!
