800 - 960 based on my BMI of 40. And I wasn't advised, I was told. ;)

Do what you were told by your doctor. If you were not told, call and ask, cause we don't know what he/she wants you to do!

I am supposed to have 3 shakes which equals 450 calories of the Protein Powder they sold me and my BMI is 51. I've just finished day 1 and while I'm fine today, I don't know that I can last 2 weeks. 450 calories seems excessively low.

My pre-op diet was 1200 calories a day of real food. It had to be non-processed, low sodium, low fat. I think the same diet was required of all patients regardless of their size or their surgery type.

450 calories does seem awfully low, especially for 2 weeks. If you're diabetic, low intake like that can cause ketoacidosis, and that would be a medical emergency. I guess if you start feeling ill (faint, dizzy, fatigued, etc.) you could call your surgeon's office and ask for guidance.

I'm not diabetic but even the lapband.com website says 800-1200 calories. I'm going to call the office today. I just don't think 450 calories is right.

I am currently on day 11 of my 14 day pre-op diet. I am allowed up to 1000 calories but have been around 650 each day. I drink 2-3 Protein Shakes and have a bowl of low-fat cream based Soup that has been blended and drained. I can also have sf Jello, sf Popsicles (too cold for them!) and broth. I've lost close to 15 pounds on this diet so far but it's not easy. There are times that are hard. For the most part, when I'm working, I'm not thinking about food. Best of luck to you!

Hello,

I am permitted 3 shakes, 2 Protein bars, and 2 bullion cubes a day. I am on day 3, and I'm not gonna lie. ITS HARD,

It is getting a little easier each day, and I have not cheated. I have come to understand the differance between true hunger,

and just wanting to eat. I have lost 4 lbs in 3 days, and as I set here eating my dinner (chicken bullion and snack bar) I am

glad that I am doing this. Yes, to be healthier, but also to be able to enjoy life and what all it offers, I wish the very best to

everyone on here. Have a great night.

Daron

My doctor had a 500 calories liquid diet that some people do for months! Yes months.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
