My doctor told me if I stretch my pouch they have to unfill me completely and I would have to do 2 weeks liquid, then they would see if the pouch has settled back or not, If it has they start fills again slowly but if it hasn't then it might require surgery.

Not sure what you mean.... Did you stretch it on purpose?

If you are new to this, stretching your pouch can only be done by eating too fast, too much and not chewing. You will be having a major stuck episode and the pain would be excruciating. Stretching your pouch usually takes weeks and months of disobeying the rules.

If you are new to this, you probably do not have any restriction and your portal is wide open. I could eat anything I wanted the first 3 months. And sometimes I did. But the food passes through the portal into your lower stomach, not stretching your pouch.

No I hope I have not. I'm still on liquids. It just came to my mind and just asked. Oh heaven NO I'm doing exactly what the dr told me too. It was just a silly thing that came to my head!!!

It actually takes a long time to stretch your pouch caused by not following the rules, however, the pouch can be shrunk back to a decent size by getting your band completely deflated and on liquids for some time. All doctors are different. My doctor goes 6 weeks on liquids only, then starts the fills over gradually. I know this by experience.

Good for you..... I think the hardest part of the band is the not knowing and the what ifs. It's second nature to those of us who have had it a while but I do recall all those questions I needed answers too early on... Congrats for asking!!

So glad you asked that question. I'm 10 days post-op and still on liquids. I've been scared about stretching my band because I haven't had any nausea or vomiting.

If you don't mind me asking, Floridays, how long have you been banded?

It is unlikely that liquids will stretch your pouch.

Thanks. After reading this thread I began to wonder about that. I was banded Wednesday. I can have creamy Soups and I am supposed to drink Water but I just wanted to double check. For the last two days I couldn't drink much but today I am extremely thirsty.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
