Hi I got my band on 12/19/2012. I'm trying to patiently wait out the gas pains. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good. It's so nice to hear everyone's experiences and know that I'm in good company.

Welcome. I too am a new bander as of 12-12-12. U can't believe every word u read. I found out the hard way. U have to do as your dr tells you and especially what your body tells you. There r a lot of good tips on here but u do what u feel is best for you. There's a lot of seasoned banders on here but it's their bodies not yours. I'm not by any means being mean. And I read all the post but I do what's best for me. WELCOME AND CONGRATS!!! U will do great!!!

I was banded just over a month ago (Nov 7) and would be glad to help if I can.

Hi there! I was banded by Dr C also back in Sept. up until a few weeks ago, I was struggling with the process as I didn't feel that it was helping much. I had my third fill just under 2 weeks ago and I think I'm finally in the green zone. Hunger is under control and I'm feeling excited about it. I may have found the green zone! How are you doing with your fills? Have you felt it's effectiveness yet? NI

I received my first fill a few weeks ago. For the first few days my hunger was completely under control. Unfortunately it did not seem to last. I've been struggling since. I get my second fill on Jan 8th. I hope this one gets me into the green zone.

I'm struggling too. Going without the food I'm use to eating is extremely difficult. I am unable to find others that are struggling too.

Az_gal how are u doing I got banded last Friday and I understand how you feel. It was really hard Christmas Day seeing all my favorite foods and couldnt eat anything. But I did it I had to constantly remind myself Short term pain for long term gain. Im on full liquids now and its getting a little better It gets hard for me when my husband comes in eating things that I like but Ive been strong and I still repeat my motivational phrase. So stay strong you can do it.

Happy New Year to All!!

I was banded on 12/28/12 and am happy about my decision. I am thankful to have found this site. Everyone is very supportive and friendly. I have found some helpful hints and a wealth of knowledge. This new journey is a little scary but exciting at the same time. The great support I find here I know I will be able to make my goal.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
