Hello, My Name Is Laura And.....

Recommended Posts

My name is Laura and I' m addicted to food! Today is day 3 of my 14 day pre op and I miss chewing food! I now think I understand what an addict feels like in detox! I'm in detox too from sugar, carbonation and carb overload! I'm still on track and excited about surgery and a new way of life but boy....at least an addict doesn't have to see commercials every few minutes of their vice.

You know I start Pre Op diet Thursday and I have been hurgary as hell all day. Its psychological and yes it should be a twelve step process. i so depend on food to comfort to be there for me but I've gotta find healher ways to fill the void. With that said how do bansters cope without transferring addictions to other unhealthy habits.

I know how you feel Laura. I'm an addict too. I guess I finally realized that about a year ago. I can go on a diet and stay very focused and disiplined but once I "fall off the wagon" look out! I've often compared myself to an alcoholic like if I take that one drink its all over. I keep trying to talk myself out of this surgery but then I look in the mirror and it reminds me how bad I need it. I can lose the weight but it just comes right back on because I go back to my old eating habits which is what got me in this mess in the first place. I am hoping this tool is the answer.

I start my liquid diet on the 15th (Monday). I was terrified at first but now I think I will do ok. I think I can make it. I use to say I thought it would be easier to eat nothing. I mean when I quit smoking, that was it. No cigs at all and if you were an alcoholic you stop drinking totally. But with food you still have to eat which leads to temptation which makes me fall off the diet. So now I guess I will get my chance to find out.

This website has helped me tremendously! Thank you everyone!!

My surgery is the 29th. When is yours?

Honey, if you're an addict, you're married to a bigger addict (literally and figuratively)!

(OP is my wife  )

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
