Below is my 1st story:  It ended with the removal of my band in 2013.  Now as of Feb 16th - I had the Gastric Sleeve done.  I spent 1 night in the hospital and I've been home now, 2 days and feel great.  Just sore when getting up and down like I've done sit ups.  Following the book by the letter this time so I don't get sick or risk a gastric leak...  So clear liquid and protein for me for a few more days.

I'll wish I would have sleeved the 1st time but it wasn't offered nor were they thinking of adding it at my surgeons office.  So glad they did.  Here's to a new me in 2015!!

I have been overweight from early childhood. Had thinned out some during high school but really packed on the lbs during college and post college years. I remember the 1st time I had to find the WOMENS department cause I had surpassed the 14's in the regular sizes. I remember thinking then, WOW how did I get there! I have tried most diets under the sun with little sucess. Any weight I lost came back. I married at 34 and had my baby just shy of 36. I lost weight during my pregnancy due to morning sickness but after I had my baby and the six years since... it's been a slow but steady climb. I AM READY TO BE HEALTHY FOR HER :) !! I, of course want to be healthy for me as well but my ultimate prize will be being able to live to see her grow up, graduate highschool, get married and have kids (the last 2 of which she says is never happening cause she is NOT moving out of my house EVER... lol) I am ready to be able to go outsdie when she wants to play and NOT be winded.

She is almost 7 now and due to my past lack of wanting to change my life, she is overweight for her age. I don't want her to head down the same road as me so with this surgery, my WHOLE family is changing our ways....

Yes, that means my husband too BECAUSE.... we are doing this together. Yes, that is right. He will be banded the same day as me. We are taking the journey together, afterall... we did say for better or worse, right?

We are self pay so we did not have to jump through any hoops. We had to have a psychiatric provider for clearance (which we have done) and we have to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. We start that on Oct 10 and we are set to be banded Oct 24.

**Update as of 11-15-13**
My husband is doing great with his lap-band and has lost about 60 lbs.
I had lost 90 lbs and just had to have my lap-band removed. I had a slip after an illness in May. We did revision x 2 and it still didn't correct. I was sick for 2 weeks with heartburn and by the end of those 2 weeks, I was unable to keep down anything I ate or drank. My doctor took out my lap-band and plicated by stomach to the gastric plication sleeve. I am 2 days post op and not sick at all. Just drinking down the liquids for a few days and then to baby food mushy food...
