Idea Of What Weightloss Is Like For Others With The Band And How Many Calories Were You Told To Eat Each Day?

Recommended Posts

Just curious about how much some of you lose per month I know everyone is different :-) Also curious about how many calories that some of you were told to consume each day by your surgeon? Thanks

This last month I lost 12. To put that in perspective, the 2 months prior I only lost 4. Weight loss can vary, in my case it is due to some less than stellar eating and exercise routine for those two months.

As for calories, I saw most on here stuck around 1200 and when I discussed with my nutritionist, she said if I felt satisfied I could have a range of 1200-1400.

Thank you, I was personally told 1600 and to me that's a lot with the band considering your only supposed to eat three small meals and possibly a snack (that's what I was told). I just have a hard time believing it that 1600 should be a number I shoot for when I take a few bites and I'm pushing away my plate. I appreciate your feedback :)

based of the persons (dont hate me) age, size, weight one has to lose, their physical limitations.....etc.....it depends on the person. in my thoughts and in my dr's recommendation, as long as you are losing, the number doesnt matter. (some larger people loose faster than some who dont have as much to lose) but to lose a pound is the same for everyone. so how about focusing on losing and getting healthy instead of the diet numbers game.

that is how i am doing it.

I don't count calories. I eat 3 meals ( 1 cup each) and a protien snack, drink plenty of Water, and walk. I'm losing weight so that's what matters to me. Counting calories feels too much like all my failed diets. Good luck!!

I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day, though I'm usually closer to 1200.

My weight loss fluctuates greatly. I've lost as much as 27 pounds in a month and as little as 7 pounds in a month. Yet I've once again lost 11 pounds just in the last week and a half.

It varies greatly with little rhyme or reason.

I was banded July 10th and i am averaging about 8lbs lost a month since surgery....(I also was a low BMIer of 35 to start with high blood pressure and high cholesterol)...my PCP said 10 more lbs and I can come off of both meds!

It varies with each person and each month. I lose anywhere from 10 to 4 in a month. I eat between 1000 and 1200. I do choose to count calories it helps me stay accountable (myfitnesspal). It also varies based on excercise, on days that I am highly active (cutting grass, doing yard work ect) I might eat more - 1300. If you look at what your BMR is - how many calories your body needs just to do basics, so how many calories you would burn if you just laid in bed all day- for me it's around 1600 so I must keep it below that in order to lose. However, if I go to low my metabolism will stall and I won't lose either, so it's a balance and everyone has to find their own.

I eat 1200 calories, low carb diet. I've lost 65lbs since Feb, so thats about 7 pounds a month. I am 25lbs from my goal weight......so my weight loss has slowed way down. As everyone has said it varies from person to person. Focus on a health diet, exercise and you will see results.

Good luck on your journey.

I should be eating somewhere around 1200 calories, I think. And i'm eating low carb, maintaining ketosis. I struggle to get my calorie intake. Difficult while on low carb...

The only rules I was ever given was to eat 3 meals, no Snacks, from all food groups, eat until satisfied not full and dont drink whilst eating. The theory being that if yoiu're losing, the calorie level is good, when you stop losing, its time for a fill to reduce calories a bit. It doesnt matter whether you're eating 1000 calories or 2500, whatever you lose on is right for you.

I lost weight quite dramatically at first, as I had a BMI of 35, 2 to 3lb a week was a fantastic rate for me and not something I'd ever achieved on a sustained basis before. I lost about 40 lb that weigh and it began to taper off and I began to get fills. After that for the first year I reliably dropped about 5lb a month, but it would come in spurts, nothing for weeks then 5lb all of a sudden. That continued on into the second year only some months it was only 3lb. After the second year, i was down to normal weight, but I continued to lose - but only one or two spurts that year over which I dropped about 10lb in total. The rest of the weight came off, suprisingly in year 5 when I returned to full time work.

All in all, I lot 120% of my excess weight taking me down to a BMI of 20/21.

During my first 22 months I would eat 1000 calories a day. I lost 208 lbs. my dr suggest 1500 to start but I just couldn't consume that much food so my dr had me track everything for a month and he was fine with my loss. I averaged around 10 lbs each month...some more some less of course. Now I bumped it up to 1200 or so although my dr had me stop tracking it so I would learn to eyeball it and continue to lose. I am 8 lbs from my goal.

I still eat 3-4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at meals although I usually don't finish the startch.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
