Do You Love Your Band?

Recommended Posts

Hi, how do you feel about your band, are you happy?

This is a tough question for me, but a great one nonetheless. Days like today, I want to rip it out myself but that is only because it's been giving me issues for a few days. Other days I'm head over heels in love with my band! For example; my stepdad will bring home a dozen doughnuts and my first instinct is to grab one and enjoy! But having the band I say to myself well yeah, I probably could eat this doughnut if I wanted to, but do I want to get stuck? No. So that paired with the fact that I obviously know doughnuts are not good for me, I make a healthier decision. Being 21 I do sometimes question whether or not I made the right decision because the majority of the time food is what brings me and my friends together. If we haven't seen each other for a while we'll get together for dinner and I do get frustrated watching my peers eat whatever they want and maintain a healthy wait. Not sure if that will make sense, sorry! But at the end of the day I wouldn't change a thing because I know in 10, 20 years I will be healthier, I will have taught myself self-control and I will love myself!

I do love my band! I was asked this question yesterday by my daughter and said the samething yesterday after she heard me burping and then running to bathroom. Yes it has some side effects but I'm down 70 lbs since dec 2011 I feel better look better and I'm off bp and coloestrol Meds. I still have reflux at night but did I say I look good. Ha

Thus far, yes. I haven't had any problems. I am careful to follow doctors orders and CHEW and take smaller bites. For me I felt like this would be the guide I need to actually live a healthier life. The band just helps me stay full longer, so I don't end up grazing. I am pretty good about if I'm not hungry I won't eat, so it just helps me from being hungry so much. I do make better choices on what to eat. I count calories with myfitnesspal and work out. Now 6 weeks out, I like my new life style. The band is my motivation, it's like my little plastic inner cheer leader saying we can do this. Maybe it is placebo effect, maybe it's not, but all I know is I am enjoying the banded life. My weight is coming off slow, but it is coming off and I am sticking to a "diet" something I have never done, because my band tells me I have to. I can't eat to much anymore with getting sick, and since I don't like that feeling I do not eat to much. I don't like being hungry all the time so I don't eat or drink useless calories.

Maybe I am odd, maybe I am still in the honeymoon faze with the band, but I am really enjoying the new me.

We're on neutral terms, only because it's not really helping me so far. I have no restriction. But, it has inspired me to make great choices and be active. I do feel more full, for longer (most days) but I'm still not getting my "full" signal. It's just a matter of time though. I appreciate my band, and will even more when it comes into full affect!

I have the same problem running to the bathroom if I get sick but I think is worth it to b skinny!!!!

I was in your same position for the past 4 months I didn't have restrictions I wasnt full. I saw my Dr last Thursday for my 3rd fill I didn't know how long to wait between so I waited to see if it would change I waited a month between fills and nothing my Dr informed to never wait I could go back the next day for another fill. Pretty much if your not feeling full just call your Dr and get a fill.

My surgeon does them every 4 weeks until you hit the green zone. Last time he did a 1/2 a fill because I was losing fine on my own (I have 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band). The hunger doesn't bother me so I'm fine waiting the four weeks.

I love my band, even though sometimes I forget to chew my food right and have to go running to the RR because a piece of food got stuck. How can I not love my band if it has helped me lose 110 lbs with in a year.

My doctor will do a fill every 2-4 weeks depending on how you feel. I'm paying out of pocket so I wouldn't cheat. But I like that I can go in EVERY TWO WEEKS for a fill :) I never want to be hungry!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
