How In The World Do I Get 1100 Calories Into 1 Day?

Recommended Posts

I am hearing that you need 11-1200 calories a day in order to lose weight. I am probably getting in 300-500. I has only been a week and half since surgery, so i don't have a lot of options. i am only allowed full liquids. Not even mushies. I am drinking Protein Shots which are low cal several times a day and a lot of Water.< /p>

Suggestions?

That amount is not until you start solid foods. Each persons calorie intake is different. That is something you need to speak to your nutritionist on. For me I am to be eating 1400-1500 calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week. I was told not to worry about calories at this point just make sure to get your Protein.< /p>

you are healing. do not be worried about calories or gaining/losing weight. just keep your fluids up and stay hydrated. as the poster before me stated, you are still early on. focus on your Protein as that is what is feeding your body and making you feel full. all the best radar.

I agree...don't worry about calories right now. I am a little over a month out and have to be very careful because I could still go way over that! Enjoy it while you can!:) I have only had one fill and still have to restrict myself. I cannot rely on my band.

You're about 2 weeks away from Bandster Hell and then you'll be posting that you're eating 2000 calories a day. Just follow your doctors orders and enjoy the ride.

Well, that's what I thought, but instead they scheduled my first fill early 8/8/12. I am very excited about this as I do not wanna go through bandster hell. I do not want to cheat. I am ready to be a success. Just that i have read a couple times that people eating under 1100 wimm maintain while going at 100, will lose. doesn't manke total sense to me, but if that is how it is, so be it.

You might expect that your surgeon may use your next visit to see how you're progressing and could forego a fill. 3 weeks is very quick for a fill so just be prepared that he may go a different direction. If not, then you are a lucky patient and you've stumbled upon a very progressive doctor.

Just be aware that just when you think you've got this lapband journey down, you'll find that you don't. This is a roller coaster ride for many of us and there's a learning curve that can't be avoided in such a short period of time.

I had the same question right after my surgery. I was counting everything and was barely topping 600 on BIG days. My nutritionist told me just to focus on counting Protein at first. I am now almost at my goal weight, 9 months post surgery! Hang in there!

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.

I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
