I got banded on July 5. I feel pretty good except for the port area. I have to hold it to walk. Is this normal? I hold it to turn in bed too just because it causing a burning sensation.

Yep it sure is!! For a few weeks after you may have to hold a pillow tight up to your stomach to cough or sneeze. It will hurt and feel like your insides may come out!! 2 days ago you had a port stitched to your muscle and it will be sore. You may have a few strange aches and pains but nothing should be so bad it scares you. I did not take any pain meds so I felt EVERYTHING. Its not so bad and one day soon all those weird pains will just be gone!!

Yeah, that's completely normal. It helps a lot if you hold a pillow against your port area when you get up, sit down, or walk. That's what got me through the first couple weeks.

But that pulling, pain, and tightness goes away. For me, it was around day 12.

yes, mine was sore also. i am just over a month out now and it only now no longer pulls (down??) when i walk. again all normal. its gotta heal and the port has to grow scar tissue so it could become tender but shouldnt hurt. if its painful, 3=5 on pain, call dr.

hang in there, it gets better :)

I held mine for about a week. Even just standing. Putting slight pressure. Just made me feel better. I started to think others might think I was preggers! Haha

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
