Daily Calories

Recommended Posts

Guys, how many calories do you eat in a day and how does it differ or does it differ from what the surgeons office says. I just had my 3rd fill and they said I justntrynto go down from 1200 calories a day to 1000. I think there crazy. What do you guys think? The chicks that troll here can post as well.

Yeah I'm a trolling chic (but your room is so interesting!) and I'm no doctor, but 1000 calories day doesn't seem like nearly enough for an adult man. Not by a long shot.

I agree. That's what I told them band or no band. Even with a band I can't see how a 1000 calories is enough.

Im thinking it depends how far post op or if they are talking about for good. 1000 for a man is NOT enough. I'd guess 1200-1400 is a bit better. I was told as female by my nutritionist to consume about 1200. At the minimum 1000.

That barely seems enough to get by on a daily basis, especially for a man. I would expect you would need more than that if you are also exercising. I am female, exercising, losing weight and vary between 1400 and 2000 (big exercise days) per day.

Shap, ya big baby!

Just kidding dude! You could get by on 1000 but for me it's painful. I recently went on a 800 calorie a day plateau busting diet with intense workouts for 3 full days. It worked, jogged me down by 3 lbs a few days after my body came out of shock.

So, yeah it's possible but most of us didn't sign on to the band to be uncomfortable. Diets were uncomforable if not painful for me and that's why I always eventually failed. It's still true with the band. I still eat 1000-1400 calories a day. I'd say I average 1300 and I'm a lot shorter than you.

If you are an active kind of guy I'd think 1400-1800 would be a good goal. Here's a great site to calculate calories needed, burned, BMR etc. http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php

What u have to look at is .. are u losing weight at your current level of calorie intake ? You might not like what u have been told by you surgeon but maybe they are basing that number on your history, exercise etc, none of us know how many calories u should be eating and our estimates will be guess work... Maybe they are trying to kick start u losing more weight than u have been.. if u dont trust your surgeon and his staff then u shouldnt have gone there, i was on 600 calories a day pre-op and that was enough to keep me fed and watered for 10 weeks ... u wouldnt be on more calories than around a 1000 if u had a bypass, u can eat well on that so try it and see :)

I cant stick to 1000 as a female with a band! I need more. Im 5 ft 10 and run for an hour or more almost daily and about 1500 saw me lose right down to a bmi of 20 and i now maintain an the same intake.

I dont think really low calories necessarily hurts in the short tem but even when i ferl like ive barely had more than a nibble that day, by the time i add in milk for coffee and the odd extra mouthful of this and that I always find it hard to stick to 1000. And truth is, i dont need to. I find it hard to believe that many adult men ould truly need to drop tht low.

I eat 800-1000 calories a day. I've found that eating good food sometimes it's hard to get to 1,000 calories. I workout daily with P90X and do a spin class 3 times a week too. Sure I'm drained by the end of the day but that ensures good sleep for recovery for the next day.

I also don't have a "work schedule" per say. I work on call and everyday is different. I eat a lot of tuna for my Protein. I munch on raw veggies through out my day or night whatever the case may be. I'll eat a couple of eggs for Breakfast.

If you feel a need for a energy boost try a low calorie energy drink.

I was told not to worry about calories, carbs and stuff like that because my body will know what it need for fuel. But I often find myself not eating but then not losing weight. I find I lose more by eating. I am not on any diet so to say and can eat most anything, breads seem to be the thing I can't eat but yet a thin crust pizza I can do.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
