I was told the surgeon chooses the best size for you... Higher BMI and men usually get larger band according to my counselor, but ultimately up to surgeon.

  • The original band was 4cc. They now come in 10cc (standard) and 14cc (large). If you have the Allergan ID card it tells which one you have on the back.

Allergan has 2 sizes, a 10 and a 14. Not sure what he considers standard. Hopefully you didn't get an old one if he wouldn't tell you the size.

@ dolly, What do you mean old?? I got my packet today it said lap band AP, 3 rd generation.. Is that old? It comes in 10 and 14 according to my counselor? What questions should I ask to be sure? Thanks for your help

I have seen people post they have a size 4 band.

Most likely it means you have the 10cc band.

I agree with Cindy C, you probably have a 10cc band. Karen

Allergan's AP Standard (APS) band is their 10CC band. The AP Large (APL) is 14CC. I believe they are the only two bands that Allergan manufactures these days. Some of their 4CC bands are still being placed in countries other than the US.
