15 Days Post Op - Weight Loss Stalled

Recommended Posts

15 days post op and feeling pretty good- however, starting to get hungry and haven't lost anything for the past 5 days. I'm on Clear Liquids and protien shakes only, have lost 21 pounds so far.. Any thoughts? Guess I'm starting to feel a little down/discouraged

That is awesome... 21 pounds in 15 days sounds like a successful couple weeks! Congrats!

I've had two days now where I haven't lost anything and then I needed to remind myself that I've lost 21 lbs so far and to just relax. My body is still healing and those last 10 lbs were just me wasting away after surgery. It's not normal to lose a pound a day. A pound or two a week is much better. AND your body is now probably starting to hord calories since it though the end of the world was here when you stopped eating for so many days. Just chill. It will happen. Focus on healing and resting.

Please remember the first month is for healing, not weight loss. I know you're ready to get going with this, but give it time :)

I am in almost the exact same situation. I'm 16 days out, lost 21 pounds the first week and nothing the second week despite the fact that I'm eating less than 1,000 calories a day.

As another poster said, I think our bodies got ticked off for losing so much weight so fast and now they're reluctant to burn calories to avoid starving (like that'll happen lol). I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully the weight loss will kick in soon! Best of luck to you!

I was banded April 2 and I've lost and gained the same 2 lbs like 10 times over the last 3 wks.

Can't WAIT for my fill and just keep reminding myself this is a time for healing.

<_< << tapping my foot waiting, waiting waiting

I'm not a very patient person.

The thought of my body starving is hilarious :) good to know others are in the same boat though... Consuming 500 calories a day and not losing a pound is a tad bit discouraging ! :)

you will have many starts n stops on the journey-- it will pass, the body adjusts as it goes..

Bandster Hell is what its called. That time in between surgery and the green zone where it seems like you eat anything and everything just as if you never had surgery. I am dealing with it also. I was banded 4/16 and dropped 28 lbs quickly but the last week and a half the scale has not moved. Any weight loss in the healing period is an added bonus....

I hope to drop 100lbs in the first year and 28 is damn good start...

I am 16 days post op. I lost 11 pounds now a pound and a half crept back. I started doing cardio today instead of just waking a mile and a half a day so hopefully that helps. I was at 500 calories a day when I was losing. I'm finally able to get about 1000 calories in and now I'm stalled. I'm not worried about it because I'm just glad I'm not gaining at the rate I was before surgery. :) feel free to add me on myfitnesspal user id kdo090578

this is the healing phase, not the losing phase , so give your body the time it need to adjust and you will see good results if you follow your Drs orders. Its not an overnight thing but once you start getting fills and following the plan, it will happen. Im not always patient either but i knew i had to do it the right way, and it worked ! Im down 37 lbs since mid December, look and feel so much better with lots more energy too !Just give it TIME ! good luck !!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
