I'm not looking forward to going out to dinner. I have a family that every time I put my fork down they start staring me. I'm like "What!" we're just making sure you're ok. Are you going to get sick?

Really? I think I can take care of my self. Just venting!

My husband asks me from the time I take my first bite "are you full yet". I know it's because he wants to finish whatever I'm eating! He also watches for signs of me getting sick. I get kind of tired of it too. Hang in there, it's got to get better!

Oh, dear. The inner brat in me would be all prepared with smart-aleck responses to the "Are you going to get sick?" line.

"I will if you keep staring at me."

"I don't know, but I'll be sure to let you know if I feel a hurl coming on."

"Why do you ask?"

"Maybe, maybe not. Is that why you came tonight, to watch me puke?"

"I know you're really looking forward to that, but not tonight."

I love it Jean - those are classics!!! Yes i get it from my husband - it is to the point when if i have to go to the bathroom at a restaurant (to actually go to the bathroom not puke) i tell him - yes i really have to use the restroom - if i don't he'll assume i went to puke then i'll get his sarcasm or fill in the blank negative about the band. Oh well - small price to pay for looking fabulous LOL! ;)

I'd have to say, "Yes, I'm really going to pee. I'd invite you to come and watch, but I don't think Chez Louis wants men in the ladies' restroom."

Or you could call him on your cell phone and let him listen to you tinkle and flush the toilet.

lol... these times will come along a guess. i had lunch with my brother and sister in law yesterday. they know im dieting and under a nutritionalist but know nothing about the bad. i ordered a bowl of Soup. what came out was Tomato with small chunks of chicken , noodles, you name it i had it.In fact it was tomato stew. i couldnt eat it. i was one day out from a fill and even the slightest morsel sets me off. i had to leave the bowl. My brother and his wife did wonder what was going on with me. it was a huge bowl as well. I was disappointed that it was nowhere near like what i cook at home for myself. oh well. live and learn. lol.

Ah, I have a line for you and it works great at work or anywhere:

I'll tell you something if you promise to keep it a secret. (of course they lean in close). I have figured out how to make every food in the world half the calories they usually are. (this is when they look confused). Then throw out half of whatever is on your plate. "just eat half of what you think you should.". People just look and don't question after that

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
