I did talk with them but ended up going with Dr. Brad Watkins at the UC Health Weight Loss Center in West Chester. Closer to my office and home and they seemed more aggressive with fills. Good Luck to you and feel free to ask me any questions! Been banded since Jan and I am LOVING it :)

I am going to a a seminar with Dr. Curry on July 25th. Can anyone tell me what goes on at the seminar and how agressive they are to sign you up for surgery that night. I will be self paying. Any other info about Dr. Curry, staff and experience with this location would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm new here. First post! Nice to meet everyone. :)

I live about 2hrs away so they emailed the slides from the seminar so I can't really help you with that but his staff has been wonderful, they always seem happy to answer any questions!!

Thanks. I live almost 3 hrs away, but I really want to meet people in person so I'm making the trek all the way down. Did the slides answer all your questions and make you feel more comfortable with the surgery?

It was more of a viedo than slides, and yes it was helpful and it promted more questions for me to ask when I went for my consult. The consult was when I was able to meet everyone. I was at the office for about 3hrs, but I didn't mind since I saw everyone at once!

I understand you wanting to meet everyone, I would see if they will send it to you and you can watch it and if you feel comfortable from that then you can go for a consult and if you don't then you can still go on the 25th....just something to think about.

Did I read that you are self pay?? If so they move things very quick. I am going thru insurance and it was still fast (I thought so anyway) My first appointment was 5/16 and my surgery is August 6th and actually I could have been banded this coming Monday but I'm going on vacation the 14th and I wanted to wait till after!

Yep, self pay. I had owned a boutique, but thanks to heavy shoplifting I decided to close down. I'm selling off the remianing inventory and using the profits for lap band surgery. I figure I'm turning my business failure into a lifetime of good health this way, lol.

Self pay patients take about a month to go through the system. You have a consult, then a nutrition class, where you get your pre-op diet (mine cost an additional $188.00 for 2 weeks) and I had my surgery on July 9th. When you schedule your surgery, ask for a copy of the Surgical Weight Loss Manual (68 pages), not the small one you receive in your bag after you go through the consult, it is very useful. I think they forgot to give it to me because someone at the surgical center (Journeylite in same building as Curry) asked me if I had it right after my surgery, which I said no, and they said I could contact one of the nutritionists for it. Kind of surprised me they couldn't walk across the hallway while I was there, as I'm 45 minutes from them, but I was more concerned with walking around and getting out of there. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
