2012 got a reaction from N3wm32012 in Green Smoothie RecipesHi, so I bought a vitamix as I want to get my veggies and fruits in better and I'm a bandster for life, so I see it as a good investment (helps I got it with monthly payments ), but I was wondering if any fellow bandsters could offer some recipe ideas? Nutritional information would be appreciated with these recipes as well. Or even a suggestion on a smoothie recipe book.

2012 got a reaction from Lauracat in Kidney StonesLauracat, can you please elaborate on the types of calcium? Do you mean that one can contribute more to getting Kidney stones than the other? My nutritionist told me to take calcium citrate, and I'm curious.

2012 got a reaction from 2savemylife in How Important Are Carbs In Post Op Diet, Banded 7/25, Protein Ideas? You mentioned cost, as an option if you have a Big Lots near you, you may want to run Zoic drinks by your nutritionist. They are 15 gram protein, 90 calories, and really low in carbs, like 1-2 depending on the flavor, and I'm talking net carbs after you deduct the fiber. I'm in regular food stage now and I still drink these and they are good. They are $5.00/4 pack, but I'm talking prices in Kentucky. They are located in the medicine area of the store. Whey protein makes me sick, but these don't. Just a thought.

2012 got a reaction from Nayelli in 3 Day Post-Op Having Major Trouble Drinking All Of My Protein In.I second Isopure, the grape and green apple are pretty good. Watch the lemon tea, as it has caffeine and depending on what your instructions are, you may not be able to have this yet. I was told no caffeine for 2 weeks after surgery.

2012 got a reaction from zinhaa in Tomorrow I Can Start Eating Again ButJournal what you eat and it really helps you watch what you are doing. You don't have to do it for the rest of your life but it really helps to "relearn" food and eventually you will do like second nature. For example, I was really surprised by fruit and the amount of carbs they have.

2012 got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Chat Rooms, Anyone Use It?I'm glad you posted this, I was actually wondering if anyone wanted to start a regular meeting or something, for example, Sunday's would be best for me, but time of day would have to depend on who would be joining, I'm on EST time in Kentucky. I was just banded 09JUL2012, my surgeon's office only has monthly meetings, and I only know 1 person that has had lapband, which I can drill for questions and believe me I have, but it is still good to get different opinions and a good support group. This website is awesome and has drastically helped me, but live communication is good too. Let me know if there is interest and we can set this up, or even start a new post to get more people.

2012 got a reaction from 2savemylife in I'm 5 Days Post Op And Exhausted! Is This Normal?Same here, my first week I couldn't believe how much I was sleeping. I could take 2-3 hour long naps and still go to bed at night, which is not normal for me . But you are healing, the surgery is minimally invasive, but still major surgery, so let your body recoup, your energy will come back soon.

2012 got a reaction from 7-19-12 in Help Need AdviceCongratulations on your recent banding! I was banded 07/09 and like the previous poster said, it does get better! The best thing that helped me with the gas and my shoulders were tight as could be for the first 2 days, I thought it was the couch, lol, but walk, walk, walk. I also took gas-x, but walking somehow helps your body absorb it faster and this helps get rid of the pain. And the only pills you should be taking is if they prescribed you any, I only got some for nausea that were really small and I fortunately only needed once and the liquid pain killer was very helpful. I was told I could take Aleve also, but always ask your doctor, this is just what my doc said.

2012 got a reaction from TracyW2 in Do You Add Protein Powder To Your Meals?Thank you! Check this one I just found. I really don't like oatmeal, but should be eating it and this would combat oatmeal, protein, and the sweet tooth all at the same time.

2012 got a reaction from Kflower84 in Banded TomorrowIt's not as bad as it is probably in your head, at least for me it was not. I was really nervous, scared, and hate needles, blood, and all that kind of fun stuff, so even getting the IV was hectic But you will get through it and the sooner you get up and walk after surgery the better you will feel. They had me in this chair right after and when I woke up I wanted to cry and then got mad and then cry again, but that's the anesthesia come to find out, I was wondering what in the world was wrong with me. I was sore, but not excruciating pain or anything, but when I got up and walked, I felt a hundred times better.

2012 got a reaction from kerica2876 in Dr Trace Curry Cincinnati OhioSelf pay patients take about a month to go through the system. You have a consult, then a nutrition class, where you get your pre-op diet (mine cost an additional $188.00 for 2 weeks) and I had my surgery on July 9th. When you schedule your surgery, ask for a copy of the Surgical Weight Loss Manual (68 pages), not the small one you receive in your bag after you go through the consult, it is very useful. I think they forgot to give it to me because someone at the surgical center (Journeylite in same building as Curry) asked me if I had it right after my surgery, which I said no, and they said I could contact one of the nutritionists for it. Kind of surprised me they couldn't walk across the hallway while I was there, as I'm 45 minutes from them, but I was more concerned with walking around and getting out of there.
