Was banded on 4/18. I don't think I'm hungry, but still feel tight in my chest. Not painful. Just tight. Like if I take a deep breath, it's tight.

Went to dinner with friends last night, MEXICAN FOOD!! I ordered a cup of tortilla Soup. Spooned out all the chicken, tortillas and avacado - and then had the broth. About 7 or 8 spoon fulls. perfect. I wasn't hungry (but then wasn't when I started either) but felt like I was having dinner with my friends.

I was banded 4/11 also. I miss chewing. I think I will try tuna, miracle whip in the.blender..i am tired of the hunger. Calling this week to see if I can get a fill before the 4 weeks. The lady at TR said she may be able to squeeze me in sooner.

Im 2 weeks post op as of friday and just starting regular food...so far no problems at all. Just chewing well and going slow!

Am I the only one.. I started to take a half of chicken breast and chopped it up but I know I'm suppose to be in mushy.. Does that count LOL.. I'm so hungry and when I smell other people foods around lunch time my stomach is growling so loud..

Am I gonna fail already ...

i dont think you are going to fail but be careful with what you are doing right now. By all means have some Protein but it has to be mushie right now if thats what you were told to have. im borderline right now between mushies and more solid food but even now i chew about fifty times if i have a small piece of meat or fish in my mouth. At least ive learned to do that.. i dont like having any fibrous pieces in my esophagus... try and add some beef broth or chicken broth to your meat... let it soak for a while? i know that chicken can be dry, certain parts of it are. i had some chicken pieces last night... it was marinated . i had about three small pieces, chewed fifty times each mouthful, loved it. i was getting very hungry for meat. im glad my first four weeks is up. i have my first fill in another two weeks.

the last couple of days have been crazy.. I have been so starving until my stomach sounds like a train. I am 11 days post-op. The grits made me hungrier, so I finally broke for a small piece of baked fish. It satified me for the moment but decided to have some more Protein Drink. However I was started to go the amount of recommend Protein for a day.

Please follow your doctors post op eating plan! The hunger and desire to chew is real. Trust me I know. This will passs. It would be better for you to eat your allowed foods more often (smooth Soup every 2-3 hours) than to eat solids. Your stomach is healing and must not churn; which it does when you eat solids.

FYI about 12 days post op I went in for a check up and asked if I could move to mushies 2 days early. The answer. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! So trust me I feel your pain.

It's interesting how every doctor's post op diet is different. My Dr. and Nutritionist said everyone is different and some folks will start eating regular food quicker.

The main reason why they advise the softer foods for 3-4 weeks is so the stomach can heal where the band was installed.

If you go out and try to eat normal you could cause the band to slip by doing so. This is the reason for softer foods.

Personally, I was over cottage cheese about 5 days ago, and I've been eating lunchmeat sliced super thin from the deli, then cut up with a knife, and have had not problems.

My body needed real protien and that is what I was craving.

You'll know if you eat something you shouldn't. It will get stuck and you'll regret it.

Take your time, chew, eat slow, and stick to the 4oz rule IMHO.

If you can find a protien shake you like, I advise that as well. They do make you feel full for quite a while and you won't have those hunger pains.

BTW, I'm 12 days PO and I've lost a total of 19lbs.

Congrats Waldog, you're doing great! I'm 11 days post op and I'm one of the lucky ones eating soft mushys. I'm eating about 1000 cals a day and shooting for 80g of Protein. I'm finally feeling full and energized. I will never doubt Proteins power ever again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
