I'm just a little confused because I'm suppose to be on a liquid diet but I see lots of people on here allowed to have Protein shakes.

Are you sure you're really hungry? I've learned on this journey that the stomach growling doesn't necessarily mean you're hungry. Your body starts talking to you in a whole new way :-/

Good luck! You're gonna do great!

I'm not 100% sure but pretty sure I'm hungry. It def isn't helping that my 4 year old keeps asking for pizza and Cookies.

Protein Shakes are a must......clear liquids for the first day or two, then move to 'full liquids'. It has to be liquid, but doesnt have to be see thru, so yes, Protein shakes, low fat/sugar yogurt drinks, low fat Soups (completely blended to pure liquid form).......ask your doctor to give you a list of liquids that he deems acceptable. :)

I feel like I'm starving too! I am having Protein shakes but my post op instructions say no more than 30-40 g of Protein from them but I'm supposed to get 95-100 a day! I have added some to greek yogurt also to up the protein level. Today I tried some of the cream from some cream of chicken Soup.< /p>

I'm afraid to eat too much at once even though it is liquid because the last thing I want is for it to come up!

I'm glad we were banded the same day and are having the same issues! Maybe one of us will figure it out and can pass it along!

I think I have been doing good but must confessed I tasted a piece of roasted chicken today. Gas has been killing me in the shoulder. However, I did walk 2.5 miles today.

My post op instructions were to have only Clear liquids the first 2 days, and then progress to Protein shakes for the next 2 weeks. I recall that I had 4 shakes a day, and drank Water in between.

I was advised not to have any cream Soups, as they can be heavy and have too many calories for the amount of Protein they contain. It is essential and most important for you to meet your protein goals every day.

During those 2 weeks, I had intense cravings for salt on 2 different occasions. Clear chicken broth helped immensely.

Right now is a time for healing post op, and adjusting to understanding the different signals from your body. At this stage, (no fill yet), when I get hungry, it is my cue to drink the water or other clear "free fluids" (sugar free, caffeine free). I make it a priority to meet the daily goal of a minimum of 60oz of fluids every day.

I was told by my surgeon that while on the liquids I was to have skim milk to mix with the Protein powder. It was not easy to remain compliant, but I did. I was able to avoid getting hungry at that stage, as I was still adjusting to having my band.

Good luck with all this, take a day at a time... :)

I'm enjoying my first Protein Shake now. Compared to the Jello and broth it's amazing and I'm feeling better already. Maybe I misunderstood my doc about what to eat and when so when I call to make my appointment I will be sure to ask them. Thank you guys so much for your input...this is much harder than I thought it was going to be but I plan on staying strong!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
