There are four incisions, none of which are done thru the belly button. They are pretty small with the largest being just over an inch I'd say

Some people have the surgery through the belly button and that's the only incision. There are several threads about that around here somewhere.

I have 4. One right under my breast line, one over my port, one a little off and to the left of my port, and one in the crevice of my belly button.

I had gallbladder surgery a year before the lapband so my tummy is a little pocked up, hehe. They're not bad though, I have good skin so they've faded quiet a bit. You can hardly tell where my scars are from the gallbladder surgery and the ones from lapband are fading too.

I want you to know that I just lifted up my shirt in the middle of my office for you... I have 4 or 5 (not sure if one has always been there or not lol) and just like others my largest one is where my port is about 1in long. I've been banded for about a year, the scars are almost faded away. But I think my complexion has something to do with that.

LOL @Amanda, I did the same thing. I even contemplated taking a picture so she could see the incisions.

too funny - lifting up your shirt at work...I can almost picture that!! Ok - wow - 4 incisions or so.....do the stitches have to be removed by the doctor or do they dissolve?? just thinking of aftercare and such.

thanks for your replies!!

off topic - how in the heck do I clear off the stupid ads on this site, when i do down the page to view replies and such on other posts - there is no section to hit to view the next page....

I have 5, 3 are very small, 1 is small and think over time you won't be able to see them. The largest one is just right of my port and is about inch or a little over. Not too bad over time they will fade and I am not worried about them. I did not have stitches they were glued.

Yup! I was glued too. No stitches, which is wonderful.

Regarding the ads, I don't think I see any. That's odd!! This thread hasn't bumped to a pg 2 yet, so maybe that's why? I use Google Chrome if that helps any for not seeing ads.

I have 4to also. Including my port area. Its been 2a 1/2 yrs and they're still there so im guessing they'll be there forever. No biggy tho. I have a 7inchlapband scar from open gallbladder suregry 20 yrs ago so those little scars r nothing.

5 incisions: 4 are about 1/4 inch and the last is 2 1/2-3 inches. My doctor used glue. My port scar (surgery 8/10) is much lighter than my gall bladder scar which is 22 years old!

There are different kind of band surgeries.

There is the TUBA where all the instruments go through your belly button or your doc might not have that tool and need the make small incisions around your belly button.

For me my first band surgery I came out with 4 incisions. The port went thru my bb, then there was the incision to move my liver (under my rib cage) then 2 more incisions right side left side for the camera and tool to band me etc.

My second surgery I only had 3 incisions ( my liver was good that day).

I have heard of people coming out with 3-7 incisions. Sometimes that liver isnt nice to the doc and they need some extra "hands" in there to move it etc.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
