How Long Were You Out?

Recommended Posts

I had 9 days off after my surgery. I'm a nurse and the day I went back was a 16 hr shift. I managed it but I was definitely tired and sore by the end of the day. I think I would have been fine with an 8 hour shift, though. I was pretty fortunate and had an easy recovery. My worst time was the 2nd and 3rd days post-op when I had a lot of muscle soreness due to using a lot of muscles I didn't normally use in order to avoid the abdominal muscles.

I was banded on the 9th and I go back to work tomorrow. I am on my feet a lot at work, teaching, briefing or conducting seminars...plus tons of meetings in between so I took 2.5 weeks off. Glad too, because I still get tired in the afternoons. I had a ton of sick leave accrued so I just took my time.

I took a a week and a half off. I have a desk job as well, and this was my fourth surgery (so I knew kind of what I was looking at for recovery time), but the gas and the anesthesia kicked my rear. I was sore.

Also, if you're a lady with a larger chest, I would look into buying comfortable bras. I found out rather quickly that sitting down having a wire bra push on my fat roll which contained 2 incisions and a new port was no bueno!!

Good luck!!

My surg was 2/29. I am off until Thursday Mar 7 when I return to work. I have a sedentary job in a medical office. I have needed this time due to horrible shoulder( gas) pains. I am finding that some of it seems very related to the grueling stomah growling/ hunger pangs. Am I the only one with that?

I was banded on 3-1-12 and am feeling better everyday. I know that I'm not ready to go back to work though. I'm like really surprised that so many of you are back to work after a few days off. My dr gave me up to 6 weeks off and I'm planning to take no less than 4 weeks depending on how I feel. I work in a plant and am constantly bending and lifting while standing for up to 12 hours, so I'm going to take it easy.

I have 3 weeks off. Today is 1 week since surgery and I could probably go back in another day or 2 but for me it was more a matter of getting used to my new way of life. At my job I have 2 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute break usually just enough time to shove my food in and get back to work. I know that's not going to work for me any more and it's been MANY years of doing that, so I think of this time as my "therapy" time LOL.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
