Hi March Bandsters! I am having my surgery on Thursday at 9am. I have done really well on the pre-op diet and I'm ready for this. It hasn't hit me just yet. I'm still very excited, but the nervousness hasn't hit yet. I'm finishing up at work tomorrow and preparing to be out for a week. Got my support system in place? The love of my life and my best girlfriend will be there with me on Surgery day.

I've been reading all of your posts from those who have recently had surgery on yesterday. I'm trying to follow to see what your going through so I know what to possibly expect. I read someone had trouble sipping from a medicine cup and couldn't keep that down. I don't want anything like that to happen. I went to the store today to get some Colace for Constipation and some more Protein Shakes. I think I am going to the hospital in my PJ's and slippers. That's comfortable for me.

Well speedy recovery to those who are recuperating from surgery this week and all other March Bandsters best wishes on your journey!

Renee

Preneec- When I started reading everyones stories it made me a little scared about all the pain and gas. I actually had very minimal pain, NO gas pain, but had a lot of gas. I only took my pain meds to help me sleep. Now 9 days post op and I have to take them only when I over do it, like cleaning my house. But still more sorness than actuall pain. You will do well. The key things for me were getting up as soon as I could, a lot of walking, and I took extra stregnth gas x every 5-6 hrs (4 per day) you will do great. Keep us posted.

I was so nervous this morning before my surgery I even told my husband wth am I doing here lets go home...he of course told me to come back to my sense & I stayed my surgery was only about hour long and to me felt like I was only gone for 10mins. The worst for me so far has been the pain from the gas and the pain is in my shoulder. If you don't already have one I suggest you buy a heat pad it is a wonderful thing. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

First Dr told me that I would not lose enough weight in 1 yr to be considered a success. He said it would not help with my diabetes nor my high blood pressure. He said I needed to do the sleeve.. Dr #2 said I needed to do the bypass b/c my bmi was above 50 and refused to see me again until I lost weight to get below 50. Dr #3 told me that if I wanted the band to work then it was up to me. He could put the band in and I held the controls. He said success depends on me. Guess which doctor I went with? yup, #3.

best move you ever made..thats for sure. Thats the sort of dr we all need.

so you dont think you could have managed the two eggs at one time?? did you go back later and finish them? i know that 2 eggs can be rather filling at times for me.

so you forgot to add milk?? lol. you did a good job to get them down then. lol. i must remember to get some powdered low fat milk so i can scramble some when the time comes. you didnt add anything else to them at all?/ i used to cook eggs scrambled in the microwave. i would just stir the raw egg in a pudding bowl, add some pepper and cook for a short period of time. they were more chewy that way than doing them in a pot. i think that doing them in the pot is easier on the stomach.powdered low fat milk is wonderful with scrambled eggs. the two go really well together.

I am being banded on 3/19/12 and I am super excited and look forward to the support that I feel I can receive on this forum. This was a big decision for me and my family but it is the BEST decision for us. I am both nervous and excited about my surgery and my new life. I am on day 9 of the pre op diet. I have lost about 11 pounds so far which is great and I am finally not starving every day...it has been tough but I know that it is all worth having the surgery and the overall benefit that will come from it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
