Started Pre-Op Liquid Diet Today.. Pretty Sure I'm Dying!

Recommended Posts

Well not really, it's just so freaking hard! I am so hungry!

Today I had:

Chick-fil-a tortilla Soup (more creamy than I'm suppose to eat but I was starving and it was the only place I could think of with soup!)

Two premier Protein shakes

One sugar free strawberry Jello

One sugar free chocolate pudding

and half a cup of chicken noodle Soup (before you add Water, so I guess the concentrate?)

I wasn't suppose to have the 2nd soup but I was in pain from the hunger and I'm still hungry now.

Does this get better or am I going to be in pain for the next two weeks?!

It gets better if you can keep your head in the game too! Look forward to what the outcome will be. It's great everytime you see the scale drop even a pound!

No fair, I wish I could have Soup. I started my pre-op diet today for a surgery on Feb 8th. All I've got to choose from is Jello, two Protein Shakes a day, broth, apple juice, and flavored water. Blah...it's sad when I get excited cause I get to eat a Calcium chew. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I started the pre op diet today...I never really ate Breakfast or lunch so I'm good so far. Had my Protein Shake this morning (it was YUM) and sipping on Propel Water. Now when I get home it will be a different story cause that's when I went to TOWN eating. I bought chicken breast and carrots. I'm allowed one Protein that is 4oz and 1/2 cup of veggies. I'm doing this....pain or no pain damn it!

You all WILL make it through this part of the journey, I promise. I was banded on 1/27 and did 2 weeks of Pre Op liquids. Just make sure you get all of your Protein in as it does make you feel full and gives you energy. Is it easy? No, very hard BUT once you see the numbers on the scale going down, it makes it a little easier.

Plus it is great practice for once you are banded and on liquids. Best of luck to all of you teeth_smile.gif

I thought I had it bad with 2 Proteins shakes, and for dinner 6-8 oz of lean Protein, 1 cup of veggies (green) and a fruit and I'm truly starving. But I can't imagine what you all are going through with just liquids. Good luck and stay at it, worth it in the end.

I'm on my 3rd day of the pre-op diet and I thought I was going to die to 1st and 2nd day but today things have gotten alot better.

For Breakfast I have a pudding (I warm it up in the microwave, wierd I know but it feels so much filling that way for some reason) followed by a Protein shake.

For lunch I have a Jello followed by a Protein Shake

When I get home I'll sip on some broth and have a creamy Soup (tomato, cream of broccoli or Dumplin' broth)

I also suck on sugar free hard candies all day and popsicles

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
