Share You Weight Loss Please :)
Today is 6 months for me and I love my band. I have lost 58 pounds and can't wait to lose more. Agree with everyone who says find an exercise you like and do it. It really does help to burn the calories and to tone you up. Plus you just feel better about yourself when you exercise(at least I do). If you would have told me 6 months ago I would love Zumba, I would have told you that you were crazy!! You will find lots of things you never thought you wanted to do or try! And welcome to the club

Dr Brad Watkins Uc Health Cincinnati, Oh
I totally agree with everything you said. Dr. Watkins did my surgery 1/27 and I have been very pleased with the results. The office staff is fabulous and the whole thing has been such a blessing. I am down 50 pounds and really looking forward to summer. Best of luck to you in your journey

Struggling Emotionally
What you are going through is perfectly normal. I too felt the same way and could not figure out why. I started exercising which not only helped the weight loss and inches, but it really did make me start feeling so much better. Your body is just going through a lot of changes and since we not longer really have food as a coping mechanism, it really is a tough time. I promise you it will get better. Keep your therapist appt as having someone to talk through it is a great thing. Worse case scenario the doc puts you on some anti depressants for a little while just to get over the hump. Take care and stay on this site to get lots of support. Very important to have other people who are going through the same things to support ya

It's Been A While, But I'm Back, And Alive....
Oh no!!! I am so very sorry to hear this. I was just wondering how she was doing the other day since I had not seen her post anything on here in a few days. Do they know the cause of her death yet?

Dr Trace Curry Cincinnati Ohio
I did talk with them but ended up going with Dr. Brad Watkins at the UC Health Weight Loss Center in West Chester. Closer to my office and home and they seemed more aggressive with fills. Good Luck to you and feel free to ask me any questions! Been banded since Jan and I am LOVING it

Anyone Have Dreams Of Food
Oh yeah! Sometimes our subconscious definitely takes over and takes us on some journeys we only wish we could go on I was banded Jan 27 but I still occasionally will dream of food. Last one I was with Paula Deen in her kitchen and she was teaching me how to fry donuts!!!! LOL....OMG, they looked so good in that oil!! And we were doing a cinnamon sugar topping on them. See, I can still recall it vividly!

Please Give Me A Boost, Bandster Hell Is Taking A Toll A Little Bit...
Maybe give it some more time? I COMPLETELY understand what you are going through. I am just now where I can really tell that I even have a band. I finally started to feel like I was getting close at my last fill before this. As of today, I am at 11.45cc in a 14cc band. Still on liquids because of the fill so we shall see how it goes. I agree that is soooo hard when you feel like you have no restriction. And you still might need a couple of fills to get you to the elusive "green zone". But keep doing what you are doing as you are totally on it with the weight loss

Finally Hit The 40# Mark:)
Congrats to you! I hit the 40# mark this past week as well after being banded Jan 27. I have 10.75cc in my 14cc band and I can still pretty much eat what I want. Although I did have a stuck episode with rice last night at dinner. Guess it's no longer my friend. But I still feel like I should be eating less. Hope one more small fill puts me in the green zone! Also walking my butt of as well! I am finding I actually enjoy the "me" time it provides and how much better I feel. Now when I don't walk or go to the Y for strength training, I feel "off" for the day. Who wodda thunk? LOL! I had looked at doing the lapband for almost 5 years and almost when through with it before. However, it didn't feel right at the time. Completely agree with you that your head and heart MUST be in the game before you commit to it!

It's Been A While, But I'm Back, And Alive....
What a horrifying experience to go through! Were you having any odd symptoms, reflux, odd pain? Glad you made it back from the other side

Cc's
I am at 9.75 as of Monday in my 14cc band. So far, not really noticing anything different. Kind of bummed actually. Still hope it kicks in over the next few days. However, after talking with some of the nurses in the practice, it seems a lot of the women usually find their green zone around 11. Men seem to be less, at least that what they have found.

Weight Bobbing....
I do the weight bobbing thing as well. Finally it will settle at a weight for a couple of days, then start bobbing again. Once it starts, I know that EVENTUALLY it will be less. Just so frustrating to watch the scale back up once it has come off a higher number. I have thought about weighing once a week but what if I weigh in on a high day? LOL.....really though, not trying to be too serious about it. I know it's a long term commitment

3 Months, 33 Lbs, Very Happy
Agreed that newbies need to read positives as well as negative things about the band. I was banded on 1/27 and am currently down 33 pounds. I have 8.5 in my 14cc band and starting to feel a little restriction. By that I mean I am going longer beween meals without as much hunger as before. I'm not at the green zone yet but feel like it is closer then ever. I have been pretty much white knucklin' through the bandster hell(when you have the band but no restriction) with exercise and good food choices. You can do it but you have to work at it, the band does not work magic.

When Did You Have Your First Drink?
Just had my first drink last night since being banded 1/27. I had a couple of glasses of wine during the course of the evening with friends. I did notice it did not seem to take much before I was feeling the effects of the alcohol so that might be something to watch. Also, not sure if this is related to the wine but I could NOT sleep last night at all. Felt tired when I went to bed but then was wide awake! So not like me as usually I hit the bed and am out. Not sure if that is related to having the wine or just a coincidence. Just something to keep in mind

Gettting Cold
So glad to know I'm not the only one who is always freezing now! Hubby can't get over the difference as I was always kicking off covers in the middle of the night. Not any longer, head to bed now with layers that I never take off!

Riddle Me This Batman..

Riddle Me This Batman..
Hi everyone, Banded on 1/27 and have my first fill this coming Monday. Been very hungry every 2-3 hours but holding on.Here is my question/concern....I feel like I am eating such small amounts of food right now, how can I possibly eat any less after a fill? For EX, today for Breakfast: powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shake in blender with banana Lunch: 2 slices of Boar's head turkey in a low carb wrap, low fat yogurt Dinner: 2 pieces of fish, broc and cauliflower For a snack I might have a Jello later. So overall not a lot of food......so after the fill, I'm going to EAT LESS? LOL....just don't see how! Please help me understand

I'm Sick And Tired Of...
You have such a GREAT attitude that I know you will do really well with a lapband. Good for you for knowing what you want at a young age and going for it!

Anybody Else Worried.?
Yep, I can totally relate! Had surgery on 1/27 and in the same stage you are. It is a bit discouraging to be eating such a small amount of food but not see any weight loss right now. HOWEVER, we have to keep in mind that we are supposed to be healing right now and working on our eating habits(chewing well, not drinking with meals, lots of protein, etc) so I am trying to keep a positive attitude. But yeah, I am worried I will gain during this phase. I just don't want to see the scale go in the opposite direction, no matter how temporary

Mushies/pureed Items While Dining Out?
Hi everyone, Banded on 1/27 and have lost 25# total so far including Pre Op diet. However, that has all been under my careful control. I will be heading out of town to see my kids at college while still in Mushy/Pureed food stage. This freaks me out as I know I will be eating meals in restaurants. HELP! I'm not really sure what I should look for, attempt to eat, etc. What did you eat at restaurants, food suggestions, any ideas?? Thanks so much for your help!

Scars And Incisions
Just had surgery on 1/27 so mine are still pretty ugly! I had 5 incisions as I had a hiatial hernia repair at the same time. The scariest looking one right now is the port incision. It is larger than the others and is still causing me some pain, very tender and ugly looking. Granted, I am just out of surgery one week today so I do expect they will start looking better. However, I have 5 children so my stomach already looked like a road map with all of the stretch marks beforehand so I'm not really too concerned about scarring. My days of 2 pieces are long over I was told to use Mederma or something similar after I have healed to help with the scarring. I believe there is a thread of scar pics....if you dare.......lol!
